Hi, I`m 42 and have granuloma nodule in my lung, and my radiologist said that is »common and not to worry about«. But I`m not so sure. What is that granuloma nodule at all? Should I be worried about that? I had some infection recently, and think that could be the cause.
Hi. Granuloma is a nodule of inflammation that can show up anywhere in your body. If there is a scar left after this inflammation, it`s also called granuloma. The infection could be the cause of inflammation. Tumor can can be the cause of granulomas. Then treatment can start as soon as possible. If the granuloma nodule was clearly visible on the x-ray, repeat x-ray in 6 months would be all that you need. But, if the granuloma wasn`t clearly visible, repeat chest CT scan is for you. You will be less exposed to radiation with a chest x-ray, but CT scan is more sensitive.
