Have you heard of this guy?!!?? This is insane. This guy in the UK (Richard Doughty, aged fifty-nine) completely reversed his type two diabetes in less than two weeks! Apparently, he went on this 'starvation diet' that was just shakes, soup, and green vegetables. Do you think this is possible? Or is it just another internet rumor? If it is true, there's about to be a lot more vegetarian diabetics. Although, if you're thinking of starting this diet, you better be prepared to cut your calorie intake almost in half. Adult males are supposed to have 1,500 calories per day, but Doughty only got 800. After the diet he only weighed 124 lbs., or 8st. and 12 lbs. Please state if you believe it or not, and any sources supporting your thoughts. It doesn't have to be MLA, I'm no English teacher.

Wow! Good for him. He did this. There are so many articles about it. News, personal, Facebook posts, you wouldn't believe! He was ten stone and seven pounds (or one hundred forty seven lbs.) when he started. Richard Doughty lost twenty three pounds in eleven days! Did you know when you have diabetes you're thirty six percent more likely to die early, and you could suffer from bad eyesight, poor kidneys, heart failure and strokes?

I've got some sources here:

I don't believe this diet would be safe for anyone. If you are eating only 800 calories a day, you are bound to regain it when you resume eating normally again. He may have obtained control of his blood sugars for now but unless he is going to sustain the diet by staying at lower than average caloric intakes, then he will have trouble with his blood sugars again, quite possibly worsen his diabetic situation. He will no doubt gain his weight back, too. It is not a good idea to cut calories so drastically. Following a diabetic meal plan set up between you and your doctor (or dietician) is the safest way to manage diabetes.
