Hello, folks. I have been suffering from high blood pressure for years. I started with using metoprolol. At firs it was all right, but later it started to provoke my asthma episodes. I would like to know what this is all about and how I should behave. Thank you in advance for all your help.
Hello to you too. Metoprolol can provoke asthma episodes. It is interesting since it is a selective ß blocker. That means that it affects receptors in heart, but not bronchi. Non-selective ß blockers cause bronchi constriction. It means that bronchi are narrowing. You should try with other selective ß blockers. They don't affect bronchi. Those are: atenolol, bisoprolol, etc. Don't use them on your own. Consult with a doctor first.
