Our granddaughter was born on August 3, 2007, with "small eyes", which I take to be MICROPHTHALMIA. She was due on August 10, but the doctor took her on August 3. Is it possible that he took her too soon? The doctors say that she has pupils, and she jerks when someone takes a picture of her. We believe that she can see light. Are children with small eyes blind?
What causes this? Her mother probably smoked while she was pregnant, but I don't think she drank or took drugs.
We were also told that her sister, 15 months old, could possible have this later on in her life, even though right now she seems to be normal. Is this possible?
We need to know so we won't be surprised, and so that we can encourage our son, who is very depressed about this situation.
Thank you
