If you haven't already, go see a urologist. I had a similar issue and after a battery of tests, finally found the culprit and having been feeling much better after treatment. I'm not 100% yet, but I'm almost there. I too had that mild burning pain during and after ejaculation, but not necessarily when urinating. I also had general discomfort/pain in the tip of the penis that would come and go from time to time. I went to my general doctor first and did all the normal blood and urine tests. I tested negative for every STD. My doctor couldn't figure out what it was (he thought maybe it was non-specific urethritis) so he just kept putting me on new antibiotics until I literally had just about every related antibiotic you could think of, including antibiotics for possible yeast infection (yes, men can sometimes get that). This went on for over 3 months. And none of these medicines helped me. My doctor was at a loss and didn't know what to do. Then I went and saw a urologist. After a battery of tests (including a CT scan, checking my kidneys for deffered pain, checking for prostatitis, etc), the urologist finally found what is called a "stricture" inside the tip of my penis. A stricture is scar tissue that builds up over time inside the urethra of your penis. The scar tissue can get there from any variety of reasons (1/3 of strictures are categorized as unknown cause, but usually a stricture forms after some kind of past trauma, an STD or an infection) and once the scar tissue builds up in there it will never go away unless you get it treated. Depending on the size of the stricture, there are different ways to treat it. The treatment I had (which is also the most simple) is what is called a "urethral dialation" which is an uncomfortable procedure, but really not that painful at all. I went in twice for this procedure and the doctor basically uses a series of sterile rods to break up the scar tissue and stretches your urethra out a bit (it sounds worse than it actually is). After 2 of these procedures, I started feeling significantly better. The urologist sent me home with what's called a "urethral meadal dialator" and I am now doing a mini version of the procedure to myself once a day to keep the urethra stretched out... this process has been actually quite easy. It's not comfortable, but every day that passes it's getting easier to do. My urologist said after a few months of doing this, the chances of the scar tissue ever forming again are very, very low. This is also a better alternative to the much more invasive surgeries that exits out there to get rid of a stricture.

Now this is only one potential solution for the problem you're having, but I would see a urologist and make sure you don't have a stricture. It took me months and months of just returning to different doctors and getting second opinions until we finally found the problem. And remember, if one doctor doesn't know what your problem is or how to treat it, don't let that discourage you. Just keep seeing other doctors and specialists until you find the problem. No one doctor has all the answers. There is almost always a solution to your problem. Just be relentless about finding an answer, because you only have this one body - so take care of it.

In May 13 I started experiencing a burning in the tip of my penis when I urinated. I went to the docs and was diagnosed with urethritis and given some antibiotics (3 day course, can’t remember the name). They seemed to have no effect but the burning went away on its own after about a week. It then re occurred frequently over the course of about the next 4/5 months, and a burning spotty rash kept coming up on the head of my penis.  I assumed it was just a bit of thrush (I used to suffer with it as I played a lot of sports), so I used canesten cream on and off as it seemed to come and go.

I eventually got so fed up I went back to the docs who said I may have a fungal infection and prescribed me Timodine cream.  I used this for a couple of weeks with no improvement.  I got so paranoid I paid for 2 private STD tests in this time (£660 in total! – Both times negative and no bacterial or fungal abnormalities).  I went back to the docs and he re assessed me and said he still believed it to be a fungal infection, and prescribed me 6 WEEKS worth of anti-fungal cream (Timodine again) and Terbinafine tablets.  Again, I used them for 2 weeks – no improvement. The rash actually seemed to be getting worse and my foreskin seemed to be drying out and cracking, so I self-medicated and put nappy rash cream on (Sudocrem) – it works on babies bums, right?.  DO NOT DO THIS!!!  It made it 10 times worse!  My foreskin dried right out and the head of my penis actually started peeling!  I then went back to my docs and insisted he referred me to a private dermatologist (I have BUPA cover, but was reluctant to use it due to the ‘personal’ nature of my complaint!).

I saw him, and he took one look (with a magnifying glass - I wasn’t happy about that!), and immediately said ‘well it’s not STD, I could have saved you £600, it’s seborrheic dermatitis caused by an allergy to the candida (fungus) that lives on the head of the penis. It’s very common’.  He also asked me if I had any other skin conditions, and I mentioned that I had mild blepharatis, and this reinforced his diagnosis as these 2 conditions are often linked.

He prescribed me canestan 1% (applied once a day in the morning), steroid cream (applied once at night) to reduce any inflammation, and to stop using soap and only clean myself with Dermol 500 lotion.  After a week it seemed to be improving and he told me to stop using the steroid cream and use the canesten twice a day.  One week later and all symptoms completely gone, and 2 weeks later I’m still all clear!

I will continue to use the Dermol 500 lotion and canesten as they seem to keep the symptoms at bay, and they can be bought over the counter.

I hope this helps anyone who is researching the same symptoms, I was for months and it made my life an absolute misery.

Have you tried a penis health creme yet?  These cremes treat all sorts of minor skin irritations down there.  I use one and haven't had any penis skin issues in a very long time.  Not sure if it will help with what you are describing, but you might want to look into it anyway.  Good luck.

I agree with Sean on this one. Check out Man1 Man Oil. It helped me with a similar issue and is really the best thing for skin problems down there. It's totally free of synthetics so it's completely safe.. which is a huge bonus obviously. You can get it online.

I'm 17 and I have the same problem, but it comes and goes and it happens sometimes after urination, which it makes me want to urinate more, but only little drops come out. I never felt worried enough to search online until today.
