I have had the same things...I have had mine for 4-4 1/2 years and I went in had a pelvic ultrasound and everything is normal. But the bleeding and pain is why I went in so I have no clue wtf is wrong ....but my partner gets sore too and they told me everything is fine. So I guess after reading all this and research I'm thinking that something is wrong but my cervix does move around and that can be the reason to tplus its tucked. Idk get to know your body. I had my daughter June 1st 2011and got it a couple months I think 3 wish months later..I guess like I'm fine but majority I read is all bad and the same:(

Just remember that your putting a foiergn object into you body..its going to vary on healing for a each person. It will get better and I had the same thing as you for a bit too in my first month. It took 2 months to heal after a cervix has a baby...so when you open a cervix you got to give it time to heal nonetheless inserting something foreign to that part of the body. Its probably getting used to the hormones.. Just give it a lil more time yet.

I too have the same problem with the mirena IUD; I bleed sometimes, not as much as when I first had it put in a year ago, and I get pain during and after intercourse as well. Some days are worse than others. Today after sex, I have been going through the worst pain and it even hurts to sit on my butt; the pain mimics when I had a piece of my placenta left behind which is weird. My breasts feel firmer and are so sore. I feel like I am always cramping though since it has been implanted. When I had spoke with a nurse about the bleeding, she said it could be cysts in my uterus caused by the IUD. I plan on making an appointment here soon. I also had an abnormal flow before the IUD, and now it has gotten worse. I will bleed for anywhere from a week to two weeks, and in that duration, it will stop for a few hours, or even a day or so and then come back. the beginning starts out light and then gets heavier during the last few days, which isn't what I am used to at all.

I have had Mirena for just over a year. I told myself for so long that it was a good deciscion but its actually been pretty horrible. The insertion was indescribable pain that caused me to nearly pass out and was unable to sit up for 2 hours. Then the cramps and spotting for 2 months. Then the painful intercourse. At first it was just positional and would cause sharp jabbing pains. Had the position checked by ultrasound and the dr says its in place. Then the pain with intercourse turned into a dull periord like cramping so that I would want to stop and could not reach orgasm. Its been 6 weeks since I have had an orgasm and have an appointment to get this c**p out of my body in a few days!! I'll try and post in a few weeks and post if the pain and cramps with intercourse have stopped.

I would make a drs appointment soon!! They say if you ever have pain that causes you to be bent over in agony to see the dr immediately bc it may be stabbing into your uterine walls. The other symptoms sound like what I have experienced and I am having mine removed.

What you're feeling is the strings attached to the mirena. The doctor can shorten them for her.

I am in the same situation now and in so much pain. It's the IUD shifting. But your body knows and will shift back over time. It's still something that needs to be checked out.

I have had the same issue with the same type of bleeding too, I've had mine in for a year and thought it was just me

I've had my Mirena in since January 2015 and I bleed every so often after intercourse. I have had ultrasounds and GYN exams to figure out the cause of the bleeding, to no avail. I still have the IUD in place and I'm thinking the strings are rubbing up against the cervix causing the bleeding, so I'm going to see if they can be cut shorter.

Even though this post is over a year old, it seems people are still posting their experiences. I've had my mirena 5 years. It's ready to come out. My husband did feel the strings initially, but they eventually curled up against the opening of my uterus, and he hasn't felt it since. I had no cramping and didn't have any spotting until this last year. My only concern is that now I can't feel the strings. I just wanted anyone reading to know that you usually will hear the bad because people who aren't experiencing problems aren't researching symptoms so they aren't posting. Like any type of bc, everyone can react differently. Find what's right for you. I've loved it. I just wish everyone could have a similar experience instead of any pain. Good luck to everyone. Here's to good health.

that's good if you can feel the tails when you have sex. it;s when you can't feel it that you have to worry if it has slipped or moved.
