On April 13th the condom ripped, so I went to the clinic three days later & got a Plan B. I then started birth control the next day. I took a pregnancy test 3 weeks after & the result was negative. I started my period on May 7th, but on May 8th I felt something come out of me. & when I checked my pad there was a large amount of dark red blood which resembled jelly, & I also saw a red ball the size of a marble? Its now May 10 & my blood is still really heavy only sometimes throughout the day. I'm so confused, what's happening to me & what should I expect ?

Hi Guest,

It is possible that you are having/had a miscarriage.  It's not uncommon for a pregnancy test to give a negative result when testing early.  The dark, jelly, blood is likely "old" blood but it also could be a mucous plug in there.

Plan B can make your next several periods different.  They can be heavier or lighter than normal.  They also can be earlier or later than usual.  Starting birth control will also contribute to changes in your cycle.

Give your body some time to adjust to being on birth control.  It doesn't sound as though you are pregnant now from your description.

If the bleeding becomes bright red and very heavy then seek emergency medical attention.
