I'm a 19 year old guy. I'm pretty skinny. I woke up with this sensation on my bottom left side of rib cage. If I apply pressure, the sensation moves away from the applied pressure and stays there. I put pressure on the top part, and it moved down.

We'll see what happens.

I saw my GI doc today, a follow up from colonoscopy last friday. I have had diarea since the colon. Today I gave a stool sample to be checked. I'll let you know what they find.

I have a lump in the right side of my abdomen between the bottom of my ribcage and my navel, and it feels as though it has grown over the last year or so.  I'm a man and I've had it since I was 35 (I'm now 39).  It seems to feel more bloated at some times than at others, and it appears to move about a bit (sometimes it feels as though it's under my ribcage, and at others next to my navel --- and I too can feel a strong pulse when I press on it near my navel).  Infrequently does it cause pain.  I also burp a lot more than I ever used to, and my stomach makes odd noises much of the time (particularly after eating).  My appetite has diminished, and often I have loose bowel movements and diarrhoea.  Probably too much information!

I don't drink and have never smoked, but have always eaten a lot of bad stuff (sugary, fatty food and loads of salt): I'm not overweight, but I understand that there is a link between diets with too much salt/fat and stomach cancer.  I've read through all of the comments here: has anyone been diagnosed with stomach cancer?  So far, it seems that the worst diagnosis was the lady who was told she had an internal hernia and needed surgery, but few who have said that they will go to the doctor have reported back.  I wonder whether they had bad news and no longer wanted to talk.

The frequency of reporting these things seems to have increased since the thread began: perhaps we're unwitting victims of an alien-breeding program!

I guess that if you have fibroids, then the fibroids themselves may distort your womb, so that you can feel the lump above your navel --- I don't know, as I'm not a doctor.  Maybe your doctor/consultant can allay your fears about cancer.  I hope all turns out well, anyway.

Hey everybody, I too have the same exact thing as everybody else in here, and, although this discussion is really old, I figured that I should show you what I have found. I think what most of are experiencing is a floating kidney/wandering kidney/falling kidney/nephroptosis (it goes by a lot of names lol). It is a condition where the connective tissue to the kidney isn't present, thus allowing the kidney to move around in your abdomen. It is much more common in thin people, probably because fat will keep it from moving as much. If it is causing uncomfortable/painful symptoms it can be corrected by surgery, but it is not necessary if you are asymptomatic. Also, putting on weight will help stabilize the kidney and reduce its movement.

The reason that doctors cant diagnose it with their scans is because it falls back into it's normal position when you lay down, thus they dont see the "lump" that is actually your kidney. Here is a video on youtube that I found that is the exact same thing that I have:

***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***Please read our Terms of Use

and by everyone else's description I think you guys will be able to relate to this video. In order to get it diagnosed you need either an IVP while standing and then sitting, or an ultrasound when standing and then sitting in order for them to be able to see the movement of the kidney.

The condition isn't dangerous, but it is still worth it to have it checked out just to make sure that that is all that you have.

First of all thats your pulse you feel in this massive abdominal artery that runs to the lower half of your body. That is normal. Don't go crushig and pressing and laying on things. Its a main artery and normal. For those of us with no pain who have dropped a bunch of weight and do not eat enough in a day----the moveable lump by your navel, can be as large as your fist, this is your duodenal. The section of intestine that just connects from the stomach and starts into small intestine. I have not been eating because I'm being stubborn and stupid right now and stressed. I have only had liquids for days and a restricted diet for months. I dropped an additional 20lbs from fine/thin before. I know this is not right, don't judge. A temporary set back of mine. Anyways with lack of eating properly there isn't much passing through your intestine and its not busy. Your intestines can be pushed all over your stomach but don't do yourself. And this is not referring to feeling solid waste pass through that is more lower large intestine and a completely different feeling. You can feel that lump of waste follow the tract down where it needs to go. Pain can be more impacted bowels having difficult time leaving and can be adjusted by diet or stool softeners. But the upper naval movable knot is kinds like when i say I'm so hungry my stomach feels like its eating itself. Well of course that is not real, but lack of food and empty is not helping a duodenal/intestine that is still doing its job and contracting as it does to process food. Its moving around cause intestine is just laying over itself and some lower slippery stomach. Stress doesn't help and can cause this intestine to knot on its own from us tensing up. Think of those people with IBS. So for those only not in any pain & following the way-to-low food life, either relax and/or we need to start eating better and not dropping any more weight. We are empty. Try and find a happy place. You can even lightly flat hand soothe the area an it will relax but can then tense up again right next to the last. It looked like I had an alien in me. My knot was first under my navel and feeling my aorta right there pounding away. Then it moved to the left and i still felt the heart beat but not as prominent as straight over navel. So everyone else having other symptoms an signs of much different causes please do see a doctor if you have the wrong color bile and all other signs. My explanation is only for the thin or too thin and also the possibly stressed. Now i'm a strong willed person and have always handled alot of stress. Now its catching up and my body is more stressed, even though I thought my mind handled it & pushed it aside. Possible divorce starting. So I hope this puts the small issued people at ease. This was also explained a little a long comment ago here, to give credit. But know before freaking and thinking extremes. Trust me in that sense i am fully disabled and been with dr's weekly for six years working on my spine. I say this only to mean that you need to be the strongest one looking into your own health. You are the first determiner and Sherlock Holmes to how you treat your body. All Dr.s have certain interest they know more about and some things they know nothing. But research your other symptoms and don't jump into surgeries without learning them. Dr's love big test and surgeries. I have had a couple open up my back for their theories. I learned my lesson. Be safe. Be healthy. But all, no matter what, try and relax. Our minds are stronger then illness' and sometimes our fears drive and cause the problems much greater. So sick or not focus on relaxing and working through this. I know, easier said then done. Especially if health problems are new to you. We all fear the worst and some even more so when then think of their kids in this picture. Don't go that far yet. One step at a time
