I am a male and 27 years old currently. PLEASE HELP! Approximately 10 years ago, I developed my first cyst in the middle of my two nipples. This was removed by a surgeon and everything was great for 3 years! Then, I developed another one on my neck. So, I had that one removed as well. Everything was great for another 3 years! Then, I developed one on my head. All of these cysts have worried me because they have reached the size of a dime. But, this one on my head really worried me since it's near my brain. So, I had it removed right away. Then, a year later had to have another one removed from my head. The operations always go very smoothly and then everything is fine for a while. I always ask my doctors ( I have spoken to my main doctor and my surgeon) about this situation many times. It worries me very much to have all of these cysts. But, everytime I talk about it, they seem so laid back like it's nothing to worry about. They always say, "There really isn't anything we can do for you." "Your only options are to either get them removed or deal with the pain. There isn't anything we can give you." After hearing this response from them after 4 times of getting them removed, I basically gave up and stopped getting them removed. There not worrying about it and making it seem like it was nothing made me stop worrying so much also. I had a scar on my neck and chest which are barely visible and dont bother me at all (but they are still scars). Then, I also had two scars on the back of my head, which are definitely noticeable and very annoying. Luckily, I dont have to see them since they are behind my head. PROBLEM: They never seem to stop growing on my head! For about a year or two, they would grow and get nickle sized bumps on my head which would be red and painful. I think these cysts are called sebaceous cysts. Sometimes they would ooze out puss. If that happened I would try to sqeeze them to get all of the stuff out. One time, I soaked one in hot water and it made the cyst very limp and easier to sqeeze....so much stuff came out. It was very disturbing. Then, after I did that it seemed to dissappeat. But, this is a never ending cycle. They just keep coming back and back. I don't know what to do. I am very worried now. I talked to my doctor again recently, he said his same thing he awlays does and not to worry about it. I demanded a referral to a dermatologist. We will see if that helps at all. PLEASE HELP! I am getting scars all over my head. It has gotten to the point where sometimes I have 4 at a time on my head, and I am noticing whiteheads on my head now too which I never had before.

These are so common.  My whole family has them.  My doctor who is well respected says they are really nothing.  I have 2 on my arm under my skin and about 6 on my head that range in size.  I have considered getting them removed but if the chances of them coming back are high, there really is no point.  They are nothing to be afraid about.  You probably had them as a child but as an adult they surfaced.  Unless they really bother you, then you should get them removed but I wouldn't do them yourself as you can cause an infection.  Plus it's gross.  I can't imagine trying to do removed them myself because they are so deep inside that I would have to surgically cut myself open.  So I have no idea how you do it yourself.  They can get swollen and they swelling can go down.  They usually pop on their own and eventually will fill the pocket back up.  If your concerned about scaring then I wouldn't touch them.  They are just one of those harmless body things, like you can live without a gall bladder and appendix.  These types of cysts are harmless.  I have heard them called fat pockets and cysts.  I would just accept you get them and leave them alone.
