Hey, I'm 19 and sexually active. A bit of advice for younger women who are suffering from sore nipples and irregular periods: This is actually pretty normal. When you begin ovulating, your body experiences a small peak in hormones. This can often cause nausea, soreness in the breasts/nipples, minor abdominal cramps (especially when the ovary releases the egg), stronger urge to urinate frequently, and some other symptoms. I personally get sore nipples a couple of times during the year due to ovulation (most commonly around 2 weeks after menstruation). When in doubt, always take a test. A test will have a more accurate reading if you wait until AFTER your missed period. If it comes back negative and you're still not sure, go to a doctor or health clinic and get a test. The doctor can give you more accurate results. Also, many health clinics can give you a free blood test, if that is an issue for you.
If you are experiencing discharge out of your nipples, make sure you go to a doctor as soon as possible. There are many serious problems that are associated with mammary discharge, including cancer, that can be better treated if you go to the doctor as soon as you experience those symptoms. Check for abnormalities such as dimpling, discoloration, lumps, constant soreness, and strage discharge.
