I am so glad I came across these posts. I had 6 cortisone shots last week and have been severely nauseous ever since! Feel like I could vomit uncontrollably non stop. Gagging, zero appetite and anxiety - how long does this last? I had no idea that this could happen!!! I called the doctor and she said this can't happen. But nothing else has changed. I'm so sick I can't go to work.

I'm pretty sure it's the pain medications we're taking. Once we get the steroid injections, we can't take the same amount of pain medications due to the fact that our nerve endings are more, "awake/active." The feeling we're getting is nausea and headache from being, "over medicated." Pay very close attention to when you're getting ill; is it worse AFTER you take your meds? ;)

Hi all, I had my injection this morning.
I'm having headaches and vomited after hours of stomach pain / cramp.
I ate toast which was offered to me after I woke up and pasta with bacon / avocado sone hours after I got home...tip, don't throw up avocado it's grim inside your nose!!

I will post in the coming days to let you know if I'm feeling better.

I would suggest calling your surgical team for advice in case your symptoms get worse or don't go away. Including whether you should take the same medicine dosages for any pain relief whilst the injection takes affect.

Hi all,
Update from my last message yesterday.

I called 111 (a free UK health care service for advise before contacting 999) who suggested I go to A&E (ER for Americans).

I had cramps, vomiting, diarrhoea, headaches most if the day following my spinal injection.

In hospital I had pain relief, buscopan (relieves stomach cramps), put on a drip. Following various tests - blood test, X ray. Urine, ECG - the results were inconclusive. The doctor mentioned:
- Fatigue
- Surgery / procedural stress
- Sickness from anesthetic
- General stomach bug or flu picked up from hospital or food when I got home

Good luck to those who experience sickness!

Hi, sorry to hear that you have all been so sick after the injection - l had my first one 4 days ago. Now l know why l am feeling nauseas, headaches and more pain than before injection. Dr did not mention any of this to me either. I can't work in this pain and hope it subsides within a day or so as l need to get back to work.

I just had my first injection yesterday in the right groin area for severe arthritic hip pain.
Yesterday I felt a little out of it and today I woke up nauseaous and feel very thirsty.
I didn't see any comments about how relief or suggestions on how to deal with this.
Thank you.

This is crazy late for your post but i'm googling because I'm still battling nausea from my injection 2 weeks ago. The nurse in the doctors office made it clear that nausea is such a rare side effect that I couldn't be having it due to the injection. She told me I probably caught a virus and to see my family doctor. When I asked how long the injection took to be effective, I was told I shouldn't be in pain anymore and that was it. I am still in pain. Still have nausea, still get headaches and puke. Pretty sure the nurse thought I was calling hoping to get a pain pill refill. I didn't even ask about pain meds and felt like I was being treated like a drug addict. Sucks that your fiance had the same experience.

Hi ladies. I also have "that feeling". I feel like I have morning sickness, had a justo years ago. Waking up at 5 am, also not Norma for me at all! I can't be still, but don't feel like doing anything? I'm here looking for answers too, seeing y'all really helps!
