Gursharan Kaur, a west Delhi resident, had undergone gall bladder surgery July 27 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Soon after, she started complaining about the pain and had to undergo another operation a private nursing home. During the second operation, the doctors found a towel in the woman's stomach that had obviously been left during the first surgery.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) authorities reported that they learned about the matter through an evening news and that they immediately organized a committee that will evaluate and investigate the matter before reaching any further conclusion. The committee will comprise of three people who will and submit a report within two days.

If found to had been negligent, appropriate action will be taken against the concerned doctors and support staff.
