I had surgery in October to remove a nerve from the bottom of my foot, between the second and third toes. Here it is January and I am still suffering with weird feelings in those two toes. I know I was cut from the top of the foot to the bottom to remove the nerve that was causing a lump type feeling when walking. Wandering if anyone else has had this operation and how long did it take to get the normal feelings in the toes again?

Hello, I had a similar operation last June between my 3rd and 4th toes that was causing pain and burning feeling in the 4th toe. The numbness in the toes I can live with but it does feel like I'm stepping on something or like a lump as you discribed. It actually has worsened over the last month...have you tried an assortment of shoes?? If I find out something, I'll let you know. Robb from Woodinville Washington

Robb, Thanks for your message. The lump feeling that was there is gone, but the nerve that was removed is sensitive when touched. It feels fine when walking though, thankfully. The doctor told me the last visit, is to massage it daily, which will help. I have been doing that and I believe it has helped some. He also said, to give it another 3 1/2 months. If, not improved by then, to return and they can put a shot in the area where the discomfort is. Yours has been over 6 months sense the surgery. Perhaps you should talk to the doctor that did the surgery to see if a shot would help you.
Good Luck and thanks.
