i am having a terrible feeling. I am a pregnent women of 3 mth now. But my nipples are very strange ! My both nipples are really Big, bigger than any usual unmarried girl. Moreover, i heard that there is lesser sensitivity on the nipples than other part of the body. But my one is not. just a small touch and both nipples stand up. But that do not worry me. What worry me is the skin of the nipples are drying up and then it fall off and then they grow up again and then dry and then peel off. The skin will peel of easier with water. Just like finger that is under water for hours. It become disintergrated.
I have the sickness for more than 7 years now and i have seen my doctor. MOst of them advise me to us lotion to apply of nipples to prevent them from drying and cracking. But it did not help. It turned even dryer and easier to fall off! Some doctor said that i am having a Hyper Keratosis of nipples but i am not sure if that is right? I would be doing a breastfeeding to my baby and i don't know if i can.

Anyone is having the same sickness . Pls kindly advise what it really is.

Thanks a lot

hi, i read what you guys are talking about. I've had the same problem but i noticed it when i was 12 and i am now 18! Nothing comes out of my nipples and it doesn't hurt. I just tend to notice it monthly now. It's like a irritating feeling. My doctor said it could be a skin reaction or irritation to bras or tshirts. She said she look around for me and try to find out. I'm really scared. :-(

I had the same problem a few years ago that was caused from the type of soap I was using. It was drying out my nipples because they were more sensitive to it then the rest of my skin

For the ones of you that are pregnant and having this problem. All pregnancies are different and you are probably having the milk symptoms meaning your milk for your child is coming in faster than other women who are pregnant they have a cream that you can ask your doctor about to help an itchy nipple to a peeling nipple. When i was pregnant that cream was my best friend!!!!! XD

Hi I have the same problem. I went to the doctor and she didn't know anything.

I've done a little research and I think it's eczema- a common but serious skin problem.

You can first try going to your drug store and buying an over-the-counter steroid cream, hydrocortisone at 0.5% or 1%. Apply EVERYDAY and put a bandage over your nipple to protect it from bra or shirt irritation. Failure to do this every day will result in your symptoms returning very quickly. Be sure to take the bandage off before your shower. Make you shower with lukewarm to warm water, NOT HOT. Hot water irritates the skin and dries it out faster. It also brings in histamine which will make it itchy. After you shower, dry off completely, lotion your body or follow your routine, and then apply the hydrocortisone cream. Then bandage.

Do this everyday EVEN AFTER IT HEALS for 1 month. It should recover. If not, I would recommend seeing a specialist. By the looks of it, my nipple is about to fall off and I am just starting this method. I'm angry that doctors don't know sh*t.

Drink lots of water throughout the day to keep your body hydrated. Stay healthy!

It is also happening to me. I think it was started when I was only 12 yrs old and I am 17 yrs old now. It releases some white liquid thingy sometimes, both my nipples are cracking and peeling off, but my left is not that serious unlike the right. I know that my sister has also going through this because I've heard my mother and she talking about this a long ago. Is this also genetic or runs through the blood? Because me and my sister are the same. Sometimes I'm not thinking that this is a disease or whatsoever, but I'm really afraid. Another case is when I was soaked in the swimming pool for many hours, my right nipple became white and a large part of it peels of. I'm scared that one day, my right nipple will really be gone. Is it helpful to put petroleum jelly on it to avoid the cracks and peeling off? But when I put some, It became very itchy. But I think I can still handle it. By the way, I'm an Asian and I don't do breastfeeds or whatsoever. I'm not a mother already, you know. I also don't know what to do just like all of you. :|
