Well I finally got through it...my 1st certified 5 in 2 years or so. it was hard, but I managed a PR by over 20 seconds or so (18:22, 5:54 pace, gun: 18:28), pretty close to where I expect to be at this point, especially since I didn't really taper for it...it was more of a tune up for a 10k 2 weeks down the road. I was anticipating the possibility that I may break 18 but it didn't happen today...perhaps in a couple of months... Anyways the crowd was a competitive bunch...1st guy came in 2 seconds shy of sub 15 minutes...I came in 39th overall out of over 200 people, 18/40 in my age group (M 20-34).
This was also my 1st race ran in racing flats....my legs are abit sore but that should get better over the next 2 days.
And I actually have my splits on my watch (kilometres)
1: 3:44
2: 3:39
3: 3:38
4: 3:42
5: 3:37

I am looking forward to the 10k on the 23rd...I still have 1 good week of training left before tapering down. I am expecting a time somewhere in the 37s...if I am lucky, maybe sub 37...
great splits Tim!!! well-executed. I'm seeing sub 37 with a taper for sure!!!!!!
