I have that annoying numbness in my fingertips all day and at night I get it in my 3 middle fingers and in the middle of my hands. It really can hurt at times and is driving me crazy. I am 30 weeks and it just started a couple weeks ago.... My husband says it is caused by my salt intake... so I am trying to cut salt out as much as possible... we'll see how that goes... Good luck to all you sufferers.

I am also having numbness on my sides when I sleep. I was looking for some answers. Im assuming its b/c our blood pressure is lower, making it harder for blood to get there and laying on our side causes it to go numb easier than usual. It wakes me up and then I turn on the other side. And it start all over. Im 18 weeks and it started around 10-12 weeks. Im going to try to look into further to make sure my theory is correct. Anyone?

I also had numbness in my fingers when i woke up in the morning. But i didn't get it till i was way into my 3rd trimester. My doctor said it was carpel tunnel sydrome. I use the computer a lot and my fingers were swollen at that time. It came when i was about 36-37 weeks. And it will eventually go away after delivery. It took a good month or two to go away completely. Remember to stretch, work out your hands and take breaks. You should be just fine after a month or so. Good luck!

Be really careful about following DH advice. Ask your OB or Midwife before changing your diet. Studies have shown that reduction in salt can lead to pre-eclampsia (they say to salt to taste). My husband wanted me to stop drinking as much water each day but then he did more research and found out that other women experienced the same thing as me and that I wasn't abnormal to be drinking a gallon of water per day (in Arizona we need alot of water). Husbands have the best intentions and want us to feel better but may not have all the research/knowledge to back up the advice.
