Red posting here it has been exactly 2 weeks since my surgery I have feeling in my penis now just not 100%. I had sex the other day but did not ejaculate because I really couldn't be bothered going any longer due to my pain. I can see better days coming is getting better everyday so yes you'll be fine.

Hi Red, how bad was your penile numbness to begin with post surgery? Was the head of your penis 100% numb like mine? Were you 100% impotent, unable to achieve any erection, sexual pleasure, or ejaculation like I am as well?

Having the whole front half of the penis go 100% numb and the remainder as well as the scrotum and testicles go 80% numb without any promises to improve is quite scary especially for a young man who hasn't found a partner or had kids which obviously does require functional sexual organs.

Too think there is zero sensation going from my glans/head (which is the most innervated part of the penis) to my brain is very frightening as it seems to hint at the possibility of more severe and complete pudendal nerve damage.

Right now, I believe the perineal posts used for traction are dangerous and an awfully barbaric practice in the year 2017 and especially dangerous to skinny people like me who have less fat padding their perineum and pudendal nerves. I believe everyone and especially thin people should request an extra wide post (11cm or 4.33 inches) with extra foam padding or an additional pillow and also request that minimal force be used with pressure relieving breaks in the middle of the normally several hours-long procedure if you prefer to avoid any damage the pudendal nerve going to the genital region.

Men should not have to give up their manhood or sexuality short-term or long-term in order to have arthroscopy to fix their hips because doctors and hospitals are too inconsiderate, cheap, and lazy to pay for a safer better perineal post.

If you have made a complete recovery please post your story and I will post mine as things develop. My surgery was 5 days ago and am still impotent.

Hey mate Red here again,

It's almost 4 weeks post surgery I have almost all feeling back. I'm so glad that I do too that was the scariest 4 weeks of my life but I have overcome it now. I can now have sex and ejaculate and yes I had the exact same symptoms as you. It should still be fine for you mate give it about 3 weeks. I'm probably at about 80-90% feeling now.

I had a hip arthroscopy dec 2015 , had bone spurs shaved off and a lot of work done to the area including cutting out a ragged labral tear . Full recovery in the area your talking about had full numbness at he start even struggled to urinate . Definitely no feeling but I think it took at least two months to come back fully . I was told it can take 3 months or so . So all I can say is be patient try not to stress about it ( easier said than done I know ) but focus on doing the right things regarding recovery and it will all come back eventually . Hope that helped

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm now 15 days out and the head of my penis is no longer 100% numb but more like 90% numb but I don't feel my head or testicles enough to enjoy masturbation or think of having sex but at least things are moving in the right direction because I can get an erection. Ejaculation is now possible but very tough and almost not pleasurable and requires extra work and extra stimulation to make up for the lost sensation and pleasure. I really do think that the way this procedure is done is unacceptable and nerve damage or nerve injury temporary or not should not be a given especially when that nerve damage completely destroys your sex life for weeks or months and sometimes permanently.

I am 5 days out from an arthroscopic bone shaving and labral repair and have numbness that appears to be worse along the top of my penis and more towards the head. My operation lasted about 1.5 hours. I, too, was never told of this risk and have had a hard time getting ahold of my surgeon. I wasn't able to pee more than a little squirt at a time for a day, but I think that was caused by the anesthetic. I never had full numbess so it is hard to tell if it's getting better but I woke up with an erection on day 2 and ejaculated on day 3 although it took a while and a lot of effort because I would lose the boner so fast. So I never had full numbess and I might be a slight bit better than day 1 but it's hard to tell. I find it's hard knowing how my penis is laying like even if I lay in my stomach I couldn't tell if it was up or down. And erections fade really quick without stimulation. I will keep this updated and hopefully have better news every week!

Just under 2 weeks from surgery and everything is fine. I still had some issues maintaining an erection till a few days ago but everything is working normally now. Like it was mentioned before, unless you have the burning sensation, it appears all of the numbness issues resolve over time. It just depends how severe the nerve irritation is. Most are fine in 3 weeks, some up to 3 months. Anything longer and there was likely a larger issue than just pressure from the post on the pudendal nerve.

“Left hip arthroscopy labral repair +cam debridement”

Traction time approx 72 minutes >

Hi everyone I had this procedure 1 week ago.

After surgery my penis felt a little cool a little enlarged and the tip pretty numb

1 week after it has improved slowly each day  - but erection wise is a no go.

Hoping the improvements continue - looking at the threads its sometimes hard to see (no pun intended)

if if it improved for everyone eventually. I think that seems to be the case ! I do have a low BMI will find out what diameter post they used as well.

Surgeon not overly concerned - I was due to have the right hip done as well but because microfracture work carried out I am on touch weight bearing only on the left so he left the right for a later date!

Hoping that time brings me back to normal!

I had acl surgery 8 months ago. The day of the surgery, (after)..I noticed discomfort when I sat down. My penis was shrinking into my pelvic area. When I look at it, it has deflated about half its girth, length. I thought maybe it was pain meds, anesthesia , wearing off.. But no. Here I am almost a year...and it is still as small as it can get. Nowhere near what it was pre-op. I'm 45. And devastated. There is nothing that can be done. So please be careful of getting any surgery
