First off, I know this is going to seem a little odd... but I'm having a hard time finding any information on this (I've checked a number of sites, read the FAQ etc...).
I had been running with a friend 3 times a week for around 2 miles per run for a few months until I started feeling some pain in my ankles and knees (I'm 35), so I decided to lay off that part of our workout routine for awhile.
In the interim I'd picked up a new Wii and Wii Fit (here it comes...) and decided to try out the running part of the aerobics exercise routine. I started out with a few short runs, moved to the longer run and finally after a few days moved to the full island lap. It was around 2 days after my island lap run that I noticed some rather obvious swelling at the top back of my calf. It's only at the top of the right calf and not the left, although they're both sore in that spot.
I think that part of the problem was running in place on the balls of my feet rather than the normal heel to toe impact you'd get in a normal run.
I'm hoping someone can point me to some better information on the possible injury and maybe point me to some information on how I can possibly recover from this, strengthen that area and get back to my running?
While they're a bit sore, it's really not bad at all and had I not happened to notice that swelling by chance I'd probably have gone back to running already.
Thanks in advance!!
