I have it right now everyones sleepin and im in so much discomfort,I had a uti 3 weeks ago settled it then got flu and was given rulide and told it help make sure uti also gone, finished last rulide today and this started in afternoon, i did have se even though really was uncomfy and feared flaring up the uti but assumed the rulide would protect me,anyway I have downed 2 cranberry pills and water and now have cammomile tea, this comes about 4 times ayear and it sux whilst it here, this seems worst ever usually i go bathroom bed and sleep in a fe=w mins but tonight its so bad even sittin here feel im busting to go.I read somewhere some women get swollen prostate symptoms exactly like men and thats why it isnt showing as a uti in urine sample its infected tiny female prostate area something worth investigating

Bet65- women do not have prostates, so swollen prostate for women is kind of an impossibility

yes i know we dont have prostates like men I stumbled on the article and it mentions a minute sized female prostate look....http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1303542/
its worth investigating for women who have all the test come back clear but still suffer discomfort, it says in that article that its not widely known and looks easily treated with the same stuff used on men.I thankfully got to sleep last night and today am less irritated but regardless I am back up the doctors today for advice as I couldnt handle a 2nd night like that.
does anyone have any home remdies to help ease the symptoms?I dont drink dont smoke, dont have caffeine I do drink herbal teas and water and eat healthy. For me this comes on from me and the hubbys romantic adventures basically lol anyway hope the article helps somone

Hi everyone,

Oh my goodness, this makes me feel I suppose better that I'm not insane, however, if what you're all having is anything like what I'm having then I wish that all of us could find a cure.  It's crazy that this seems to be happening to so many people (women especially), I was fully convinced I was the only one.

I've been dealing with pain for nearly 3 years now, and like all of your stories, it started with a UTI.  To make an incredibly long story short, I too was put on 4 different antibiotics AT THE SAME TIME which resulted in an almost unkillable yeast infection (finally killed that with, you'll never guess, more drugs) until I felt as though I wasn't even myself anymore, just a walking pharmacy.  The real kicker in all this is that my tests finally came back (it takes for ever where I'm from) and I had no bladder infection to begin with only blood in my urine and so they jumped to the conclusion of an infection. I was tested for everything under the sun: clamida, gonorea, (my spelling is terrible I apologize) more yeast infections, UTI's (I swear I've peed in more cups than toilets), PID, pregnancy, cervical cancer, this list goes on and on.

The bladder pain never went away, and so I finally went to a urologist and he said that what I had was a Bladder Stricture.  He brought me in for a cystoscopy and a urethral dilation.  I figured that it would be about a week before I could have sex again, and even then I knew it would be painful.  Nearly 2 weeks after the surgery I was still in pain with my urethra feeling as though it was always full and on the verge of leaking (although it never did).  It was very uncomfortable, and like all of you, the only way to keep the pain away was to drink more than a normal person should, which of course lead to more irritated urethra leaking feeling.  Anyway, I finally decided (since my relationship has been practically sexless for so long as is, which, as a side note, is incredibly difficult, and so I feel for many of you if you're in this same position) to have sex with my fiance. Well, I've never had a weirder feeling in my life.  It felt as though he was going to rip me open (which has never happened before) and it felt as though I had a thousand lumps on the upper wall of my birth canal which were getting caught on him and (you know when you have a swollen gland and you can move it around?) would move and "click" around.  I was almost in tears and am now going to my gyno tomorrow and back to my urologist later this month.  I have had more than 4 doctors attend to me to try to figure things out and have been to ER numerous times (including in the middle of the night) with extreme pain.

I just want to have my life back, I want to be me again and not be overrun with a fear of a leaking bladder and losing the man I love and am betrothed to due to this ridiculous medical issue.

If any of you find an answer please let me know.  I'm going for counciling this weekend as well to deal with my fear of sex which has developed over the last 3 years from these ridiculous symptoms.

oh gosh Pandoof what a horrible time you are having,I cant believe doctors would be so irresponsible and dish out 4 different antibiotics without 1st confirming which actual bug you had in the bladder if any at all. Blood in urine couldve been anything and could have been the kidney. I would have to say the ureththral dialation is the thing making you feel like your going to leak out plus it probably will take many weeks to fully settle after being pushed about and probed as for the stricture this is a narrowing either in the neck of the bladder or the urethra itself, this will cause a feeling of slowed or being hard to urinate and is caused by bladder infections or certain diseases. I am waiting on urine cultures and not taking anything except lots of cammomile teas and cranberry tablets and pleased to say it seems to have nearly gone.My doctor said the sex had caused inflamation and irration.I think possible the sex for you was too soon and that feeling of him getting caught on you possibly was dryness internal because you were fearful and not really relaxed.I suggest you do other things for your man and he will surely understand until your ready, Counselling is a great idea.Good luck let us know how it all goes

Also as for yeast infections /thrush, I found a fantastic cheap easy remedy years ago I even told my doctor about it and she was going to pass it on to many of her female patients who suffer with thrush. All you need is tea tree oil, olive oil and a tampon. You put about 5 to 10 drops of tea tree oil in a spoon full of olive oil and soak it up on the tampon, insert it and wear it for 1 hr, do this 2 to 3 times a day. All my friends who used this said they only needed to do it 2 or 3 times and it was gone. You also can use the mix on the mans penis. It makes the thrush spots turn while over night and they just flake off in shower. Much better then more drugs in the system.I suggest also you take acidophilus everyday to try balance ur good bacteria.

This sounds like a fantastic idea! I'll have to keep that one in mind since drugs is something I want to stay well away from from now on. Thank you so much for the tip. Also to your above reply I agree with everything, the too soon, the dryness and the needing more time to heal. It will be interesting to see what the doctors say over the next little while.

I'm so glad that the cranberry and chamomile tea are helping, I wish I had thought of that rather than putting all of my trust into the doctors right away, perhaps I wouldn't be in this mess if I had just taken things into my own hands right off the bat.

Thank you again for your reply!

Just be careful with the tea tree as it can cause more irritation. I have also suffered with chronic yeast infections that began when I started dating my ex bf over 7 years ago. It never fully went away despite many courses of anti-fungal drugs, etc. I have been without a bf for a while now, and so have not had sex, but I still get yeast problems around my period and when I drink alcohol, eat alot of sugar and other c**p or my immunity is low.
Tea tree oil did nothing for me. The one thing that consistently worked was boric acid suppositories. Yes, odd, but I did SO much research and that was the one thing that has worked. I make them myself as the ones I used to buy from natural food stores changed the formula to something that did nothing for me. However, I find the boric acid can irritate my urethra, so it's kind of a catch 22. But when I get a really bad bout of yeast, I still use them.
The best thing I've found for the yeast is to reduce my sugar and wheat intake, minimize alcohol and take a LIVE acidophilus supplement. I feel like a commercial, but I've said on here many times that Jarrow's femdophilus capsules have really, really helped me while other probiotic capsules did nothing. I have also used them as suppositories and they really help without any of the irritation of the boric acid.
And btw- I feel you on the fear of sex thing. Honestly, it got so bad with the recurrent urethra pain and yeast that I just didn't want to have sex anymore. I'm actually afraid to start dating anyone for fear of what will happen once I have sex again. :(
I wish you the best of luck!

yes yes, be careful with tea tree, its antiseptic antifungal and if its too strong and not diluted it will sting, heres a webpage with the info on these...http://altmedicine.about.com/od/healthconditionsqtoz/a/yeast_infection.htm

its funny really us poor girls crave salty or sugary foods leading up to period time and sugar causes thrush, maybe stock the fridge during that time with grapes, strawberries bananas and any thing of the fruit and vegetable variety. Last night I had a salty craving but there was nothing at all to have so I settled for a hot cammomile tea another informative site about bladder infections is here http://www.thehealthierlife.co.uk/natural-health-articles/liver-kidney-urinary/beat-prevent-urinary-tract-infections-00157.html

Anyway ladies we all have the internet and its so easy to do some research about natural help notrymma if the past relationship was stressful as well it could mean once u find a good partner and feel happy you maybe wont get stress which inturn causes the sugary need as well as can fire up thrush or uti's.Plus my doctor said men not circumcised can cause us ladies to get these nasties as well, just an added thought lol

Yep. He was not circumcised and I thought that really contributed. However, I also found that once the yeast had set in, latex condoms AND the spermicide on them really, really worsened things. Ugh!
BTW- fruit can also increase yeast. ANYTHING with sugar, natural or not, feeds yeast. My doctor suggested I give up all sweet stuff, including fruit, for a period of time, but I couldn't do it. I LOVE sugar.

I am 25yrs old as well and was recently diagnosed with endometriosis. At first I had pain during sexual intercourse but now that I have been treated several times and learned what positions to not use I dont unfortunatly I still have excrusiating pain for the day sometimes 2 days afetr. I will sometime have a thrpbbing pain right after intercourse like my body is trying to push a watermelon out of my urethra which is very awkward feeling. I to find it makes it feel better when I sit on the toilet and push outward like in a b.m. again awkward but works. I would ask your doctor about endometriosis, you could have a slight case.

That's a good point. I never would have thought of that. Do they know what caused it with you?

Mines all been tested no endometriosis but a host of other disorders and a whole load of adhesions round my bowel bladder tubes etc from previous problems, appendictius at 8yrs old began my dramas then fallopian tubes sealed by the appendicitus causen another disorder and infections followed by further adhesions.I been having one day where the urgency feeling and discomfort is gone then the next day be all uncomfy again for no reason, no sex since that horid discomfort last week. All I found helps is get out the cranberry tablets water and a hot cammomile an hour later it seems settled.Havent got urine tests back yet might pop in the doctor see if its there.

Hello,

I know this is over a year ago... but I hope you've found relief in the mean time.

I found I have the exact same symptoms due to food allergies.  It's really difficult to recognize too, sometimes I can eat dairy/gluten/corn with no problems... sometimes I eat a bit too much or some combination (over the course of a few days,) and I'll have symptoms for days (sometimes.)  The UTI like symptoms always seem to come and go in direct correlation with the "off the wagon" eating I do... It'll all depend on how much my body doesn't like what I'm eating and how long it takes to fully digest and expel whatever I shouldn't have eaten.

BTW when I did mention this to my doc, it wasn't well received... I got the usual, well, let me run some more tests first... I'm sure there's another explaination... etc, etc... Which is great! Thanks for being thorough... but over the course of three years, it's always linked to my eating habits.

I hope this helps some of you!! :)

Hi smiles,I think its time to start a food daily diary and put this theory to the test, they say no caffeine fatty foods sugary foods etc etc because it can inflame the symptoms of uti so why ur doctor was basically turning his back on ur discovery has got me baffled,most/some dr's believe its meical tests surgerys and medications the answer for everything but i have found so many non medical cures for things that theres got to be some truth in it.wonder how many native land people without drs and medicines get any of these irritations? a cure for uti in a chinese ancient remedies is to boil a cup of slice green beans, and simply drink the water, eat the beans if you want but drink the water like a soup, past few days i been fine and even enjoyed sex again today im getting weird discomfort again, back to cranberrys and cammomile oh boy.

I had UTI symptoms for months and all the tests came back clear. My doctor referred me to a Urologist and diagnosed me with 'Urethral Syndrome' where the para-urethral (Skene) glands get infected. These glands are situated around the urethra which drain into the urethra and would have developed into a prostate if we had become men instead.
The urologist carried out a 'urethral dilatation' procedure which involves inserting larger and larger tubes into the urethra to widen it slightly. This procedure destroyed the infected para-urethral glands and after suffering months of hell....it all went away. I just get very mild tenderness in the area if I don't drink enough.
It's definitely worth discussing this with your urologist if your UTI tests come back clear.
I found no natural remedies whilst I was suffering. I only noticed that the more time I spent sitting down, the more discomfort I had because I was effectively sitting on infected flesh (along with the pain passing urine).

Hi everyone, Well I feel somewhat out of the loop because I think that maybe everyone here is a lot older than me. I'm a 15 year old female and at the moment I am experiencing the most discomforting and irritating possible UTI. I started having symptoms about 3 or 4 days ago and so I went to the doctor the next day. My urine test came back negative for infection (yet I was sooo convinced that I had a UTI for sure!) so the doc said she would send it off to the lab for more testing like culture and such. I havent heard back from her yet with my results but it seems my symptoms are getting A LOT worse than they were. I dont have extremely pain yet an annoying discomfort in my urethra area. Having sex doggie-style (sorry TMI) was very painful. And sex usually isnt painful like that for me. I dont have itching or anything but i am on my period. I just am so scared. I know 100% that its not an STD but i dont want these symptoms to be permanent. I am so uncomfortable. It feels so good when i can actually get a stream of urine going and getting everything out but often ill get this burning pain at the end of my urination. can someone please please help? I dont know what else to do! I'm only 15. I dont want to be stuck with this forever...
