hello! I am 44 year old male and for the last two weeks I have been experiencing pain during intercourse. I have sex only with my wife, so I would say that STD’s were put of the question. I do go to the bathroom more often and feel the pain sometimes during urination. Any ideas if this is serious or if it should go away on its own.

Hi! I would call pain during sex serious. Sex is pleasure not pain, so pain would definitely indicate something was wrong. I can think of a couple of things that cause similar symptoms, similar to those you mentioned. Considering you’re 44, you may be experiencing prostate problems. There could be a infection of the prostate that can be acute and chronic. Acute is usually severe and causes severe stabbing pain, but I didn’t understand that you have such severe attacks. Chronic prostatitis symptoms show up gradually and are not as severe. Then, there are kidney stones. If they are small they usually don’t hurt but if they’re bigger and start moving to the urethra, that you may experience pain in lower back, groins or testicles. You should definitely check your symptoms, they may not be so harmless.
