pain during urination after ejaculation

Same thing going on with me.. I find myself sitting on the toilet till it goes away which could take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. it sucks. Im trying antibiotics to see if it helps and chugging cranberry juice.... who knows

Just chiming in to say that I get the exact same problem. Sometimes directly after ejaculation, other times after urinating after ejaculation. It also happens much more frequently when I've been drinking alcohol.

I'll try the cranberry juice thing, but otherwise I haven't found a remedy or answer for why this happens. This has also been going on since before I was sexually active, so I was never worried about it being an STI.

Still, it can be incredibly annoying and painful :-(

hey guys .... I MAY HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION TO OUR PROBLEM!!!

Let me start by saying i was so releaved to find this blog because I have also had this issue since I was 19 or so and continue to have it now(age 33)...

Now for me...I only get the stinging /sharp pain after ejaculation( sex, mas**rbation either or) when Ive been drinking alcohol ,or sometimes just a full bladder (for instance after being at the gym and drinking tons of water), but it would not be everytime until the last 2 years or so...in short the problem has happened much more frequently and now is pretty much a definate if I cum after drinking alcohol...lasts 30 to 60 minutes... have to stand by toilet... it will somtimes almost feel as if Im peeing out a kidney stone ( but its not that) urine seems sort of clear but cloudy if that makes sense(not yellow)

I went to two urologists first doc said prostate felt fine tested for infections..none.. he said to try advil before sex(hour or 2 before)
I thought maybe this might help a little but still was feeling the pain and wasnt working nearly enough to call it a remedy

Now im with a 2nd doc he has acted sort of like im crazy but has at least been willing to try something (he said he never heard of this as well?)

I HAVE BEEN TAKING URAXETROL (SIMILAR TO FLOMAX/DIFFERENT BRAND/NOT SURE WHY HE THOUGHT THIS BETTER THAN FLOMAX) FOR ALMOST 30 DAYS
I HAVE HAD SEX TWICE WHILE DRINKING AND I WAS FINE!
NOW I KNOW THIS ISNT A CURE YET BUT IM EXCITED BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DO THIS FOR A WHILE WITHOUT THE SYMPTOMS

****ALSO LET ME NOT I HATE HAVING TO TAKE MEDS . ESPECIALLY EVERYDAY SO I DONT TAKE THIS PILL LIGHTLY
But side effects are very low ( as i did some research dizzines/ headaches )
also the Im going back next week and he said we could try to alter the meds a bit and see if it will still work like maybe either try to plan ahead like take 3 days before sex with drinking alcohol(or a full bladder) just to have the drug in my system or perhasps stay on it for a wile and then get off it to see if this problem still occurs

Either way this is a start and would love to hear if anybody else has tried this drug I will keep all posted... ask your doctors!!!

ok queation to add it seems to be the same exact thing here but more often after unprotected sex as if the vaginal ph could cause irritation interested in hearing about this twist to the problem hope im not alone but at least i know the pain and discomfort is more common than i recently thought

I experience this as well, I did read an answer for it some months ago. It seems that the force of ejaculation can sometimes slightly stretch or tear the urethra because of the sheer force. Possibly the pressure if you "death grip" it to prevent making a mess. Followed shortly by urine, it creates the burning sensation. Still looking for a solution besides waiting an hour to pee.

It's definitely symptomatic of the prostate, as I get the same thing.

I tend to put pressure on my prostate when I go number 2, and I find that this helps a bit to relieve the pressure when this happens to me. I'm not sure if this is the right course of action, but it's the closest thing to "scratching" the issue that I can resolve.

28 y/o male here and I have this happen to me only after i consume moderate amounts of alcohol. If I ejaculate then go to the bathroom to urinate, i get this burning sensation that goes away on its own in about 20-30 minutes. The only way to calm the burning is to continue to urinate again, but that can only last so much.

I am glad I am not the only one. Seems like this is pretty common among others as well. This has been happening to me for years now so it isn't anything new for me.

I don’t know the site name but I read on a website a few years ago that the urge to pee or urinate after sex or ejaculation is the result of excessive masturbation causing permanent damage to the urethra which can only be corrected by surgery.

Occasionally if I urinate after sex/ejaculation I experience a painful and burning urge to frequently urinate and urinate again. If I have sex and then urinate; after about 5 minutes I feel kind of a chill and dryness all over my body, then I experience an urge urinate again. I feel a burning sharp pain in my urethra. It feels like I am not being able to completely empty my bladder but I know the bladder is empty. I will go to toilet again and try to pee again. It is difficult to describe the discomfort, it is a repeated painful urge to empty the bladder, go again and again and try to urinate however only a few drops comes out. It is more like a burning discomfort, it feels like some hard particle of some substance is stock in urethra and I want to pass it out by urinating and when urinating it feels like that hard particle is passing through the urethra canal; hurting the urethra or bruising it as it comes out. I saw a posting by an individual in the internet who experienced the same problem in which he observed his urine color; the color was foggy as if there was a chalky or powdery substance mixed with urine. I am not sure but I think I have seen that foggy color too.

Generally the discomfort and the urge to pee over and over again will last for about 30 minutes after the first urination. I can’t even describe the discomfort. It is an odd pain and that is why I have never been able to discuss it with my doctor because for some reason I believe the doctor will not understand it. It is a pain throughout urethra and further inside. I am not sure but I think it is accompanied by a slight burning sensation in anal canal as well. I don’t know anything about kidney stone but it feels like some particle of something is coming out. I would say in the past 28 years it has happened to me some 20 to 30 times. From my experience in the first 10 years it was happening if I had consumed alcohol before sex and urinated after sex but now I think it has become worst because I don’t drink anymore however if I urinate after sex; I occasionally do get that discomfort.

I don’t know if a delay in starting to urinate is related to this but I also experience almost a minute of delay in starting to pass urine. Urinating is always accompanied by a burning sensation to me. When I go to public washrooms; I do notice that I urinate way longer than anyone else; I would say 3 times longer than an average person. Generally I visit the washroom more frequently than anyone else. If this is caused by masturbating; I do not masturbate however I have excessively masturbated when I was a teenager which I think is the root of the problem. Now I am 44 with virtually no other health issues. All of the above problems have been with me since age 16. I have a single sexual partner since age 21 and I am sexually active.

There are thousands of people in the internet complaining about the same problem. They have done all kinds of tests however they have been told that they there were nothing wrong with them. From the information posted by these individual on the internet; I gather that it is the result of excessive masturbation at young ages causing permanent damage to the urethra which can only be corrected by surgery. Some individuals believe it has something to do with over-used or swollen prostate pushing the bladder and causing an urge to urinate. There are others who believe the semen goes from the prostate gland into bladder casing the painful urge to pass out the semen by urinating. Others experienced if they abstain from urinating for about 30 minutes after sex; the discomfort will not occur. Most individuals observed that the chances of experiencing the discomfort significantly increase if they follow the following pattern: consume alcohol, then have sex and then pass urine.

It is my personally believe that excessive masturbation at young age is the worst a man can do to himself. It leads to the discomforts above, prostate problems, weak bone structure and premature ejaculation. 13 male, I had something alike to this, after masturbating, I went for a wee and it stung on the underside of the penis, but I have no sensation afterwards! Just the sting when pee pee, any thoughts?

All these comments, make me laugh - funny to see how the majority of others have found ways to kill the pain/reasons for it happening. Glad to know it seems to be a fairly common problem.

Like the majority of others, the amount of liquid I drink and how full my bladder is, is the fundamental reason for it happening. I find the best remedy for stopping the pain (I get it in the lower abdomen as well sometimes, when at it's worst) is to use a hot water bottle. Give it a few minutes and the pain stops.

I'm having this pain right now; from the end of my anus to the tip of my penis. Yay yay yay. I've had it a handful of times; the last time it happened to me was in 2008. I revisited this thread to see if anyone had found what triggers it. I don't drink alcohol. I've masturbated on full and empty bladders and didn't get the pain. I wore tight pants, loose pants, sat on hard chairs, drank orange juice etc.

Retrograde ejaculation is mentioned several times in the thread. Tonight I was edging (i.e. getting close and then holding off), more so than usual. I'm sure that contributed, and the night before last I had a vibrator, plug, and someone's finger up in there (not all at once, though). I'm thinking that aggravated things if this is prostate-related.

I think the suggestion to lie on your back awhile after ejaculation is also good. Tonight I immediately rolled over on my left side to read about the stampede in India and watch some Feng Shui videos. As many have pointed out, you can definitely tell when you're about to have an attack of this kind.

I just remembered I was wearing really loose pants today. I tend to tense up my pelvic floor muscles to try and keep them up while walking around. I have been taking some deep breaths and relaxing those muscles, and the pain is starting to fade. If you're reading this and are in pain now - don't mean to be callous but - try to calm down. It's *no fun.* But it will soon pass. The more you think about and stress out over it, the worse it gets and the longer it lasts.

............so...........all in all. Don't drink a lot before masturbating, whether it be beer or any other fluids, because it wll burn if you have to piss right afterwards. Thanks for all the help!!!!!!!
