I have had chronic Pelvic pain syndromme for two years. The only remedy effective for me is sabal serrulata Q of homeopathy. I have seen the urologist dozens of times, but to no avail. They do suggest cranberry juice, which is mildly effective. My advice for everyone having prolonged urine issues is: take sabal serrulata Q 10 drops in half a glass of water 4 times a day. This would improve the situation dramatically but not completely. Sabal Serrulata is another way of taking Saw plametto ( for those who know the proven ability of this herb to improve prostate conditions).

I also get this pain but I have found its when you leave it to long after intercourse to urinate I get the pain if I go to soon I get the symptoms of a urine infection (feeling like you need to toilet all the time) I can deal with the pain it's just the infection part which gets me iv been avoiding it by finding that sweet spot after intercourse to urinate. But not sure if I have a problem :/

Yup. Me too. Post ejactulatory syndrome comes from not urinating before sex. Especially beer. The gluten irritates your urethra franklin. Take 2 tylenol and wait for it to go away.

Asprin & paracetamol to take down the inflammation. it'll take a while for that to kick in though, so use a bag of ice for 20 minutes or so. in the morning, go see a doctor before your penis falls off.

40m here; I've had this problem since I first started masturbating as a teen -- not a huge deal, but painful and a nuisance.

I like the term used by someone on this board awhile back: "razorpiss" -- though it's (usually) not quite as bad as that sounds.

It happens after masturbating or having sex -- doesn't matter which.
And after drinking alcohol, or not (I've never been much of a drinker) -- ditto.
AND it doesn't matter which order:  peeing before coming, or coming before peeing, both will cause it.

I've therefore always assumed that it's simply a result of urination and ejaculation occurring within too short a time for the body to be able to properly "clean out" the urethra -- i.e., that residual traces of semen and urine are mixing in there, that the combination of the two fluids, even in tiny quantities, is somehow irritating to the lining of the urethra; and that the solution is simply to wait awhile between the two activities (15min at least; half an hour is better).  So:

Don't jack off/have sex with a full bladder.
And don't pee when you're really turned on and likely to do something about it soon.

I'm gay, and for awhile I made a habit of asking partners -- and occasionally straight male friends -- whether they'd ever had this problem; a few had no idea what I was talking about (or were too sheepish to admit it), but a majority agreed that they'd experienced exactly the situation I was describing.

My (straight, male) roommate actually mentioned this phenomenon recently, and said he'd finally heard it explained to his satisfaction (though I forget where or by whom, so it'll have to be hearsay until/unless I remember to doublecheck this with him):

It's the acid/base thing -- urine is acidic, semen is basic, so when they mix, the result is the same as whenever acids and bases are combined: salt crystals.  In your urethra.  Which sounds just about exactly like how it feels.

And yes, like most others on this thread, I was undergoing this annoying/painful sensation as I started writing this post (for the first time in awhile, as I usually remember to leave more time between "coming and going," as it were).  A couple mostly-useless trips to the bathroom later, I feel better.

I am 31 years old and have been experiencing this since I was 16. I went to the doctor as well and they had no answers, STD test was negative as well. I do not associate this with alcohol use but I have found that taking NSAIDS (Motrin, Aleve, etc) before sex, sometimes even days before when taking strong perscriptions or if I take high doses of OTC NSAIDS, have caused this issue for me. Currently I try to avoid NSAIDS and if I experience urniary pain I will take AZO as I have found this helps a lot.

Yep, I googled this for the same reason. I thought this was a big issue but as it turns out it's pretty common. The feeling can best be described as an inability to empty my bladder that causes me to frequently go ATTEMPT to urinate and only forcefully push out a small amount hoping that this act of forceful urination will cause the pain to go away but it doesn't. And yes, the only time this happens is when I'm drinking alcohol. Non-alcoholic beverages do not cause this discomfort but it seems to last around a half an hour. This doesn't happen every time I'm drinking just the times when I've had too much or haven't consumed any water in the time while drinking. I feel like this could be related to the dehydration effects that consuming alcohol causes but I can't be certain. I'm going to look into it more though but thanks for the comforting assessment that I am not the only one with this problem and it seems to be normal and not a sign of a much bigger problem.

It is not just alcohol in the urine but a high concentrate of acid. Beer, contrary to popular beliefs, in fact dehydrates you, starving your urine water and causing the acid to remain in the urethra even after urinating, this is more painful than normal because of the strain from sexual activity.

I have this problem right now.

The best way to stop it, I have found, is to sit with your legs as split as possible while lying down on your back and it instantly starts going away :)

I have had this since I was 13. I have had days of pain from this problem and like you had no ideas or told how to fix it. so I had to look into it myself. Turns our the pain is not coming from the end of your penis it is coming from a part of your Penis called "Bulb" its located at the base of your Penis if you push your scrotum back a little you will feel where the penis starts to go back into the body. How to solve the pain is very easy and fast, I worked this one out as well. you need to squeeze the "Bulb" gently for 20 seconds with your forefinger at the base of the penis and your thumb on top. at first it will feel uncomfortable, but all the taped fluid inside will be pushed out. You will be 100% happier. no longer scarred of ejaculating . I say because I went through the hard work of solving this. I want to name it? going to call them the U2's because of how often your hear it. and how much I do not like them, of that band >< thanks all. hope this helps

I've had this for 15 years at least, 28 now.

I talked to my doctor about it, because the same sensation started happening without any ejaculation at all, the doctor sent me to an urologist and they did some tests.

After they were done with the tests, the burning sensation came while I was in the urologists office. He said he had no idea what this could be, and suggested I see a Sexologist - meaning, he thought the problem was of a mental character.

Unlike others, I've found the very cold water helps, with a lot of pressure from the shower head.

I've never linked this with consuming alcohol, or other acidic beverages, but I'll start paying attention to it now.

What I have noticed is if I can't empty my bladder completely before, it tends to happen. Therefore I tend to put of masturbation if I don't feel completely emptied.

I do tend to believe it is slightly related with mental activity, if I fear that it's going to happen it usually does, although I would never fully place the cause on the mental part.

This happens to me also eveytime I drink more than two beers I hate it so much it hurts so bad to the point I'm almost crying. But reading new posts is the only thing that takes my mind off of it. And it only happens to me after I have sex never masturbation. And I write this as I'm sitting on the toilet in pain.

Like many here I've suffered from this for many years but only after consumption of alcohol (even just one beer). I believe it is related to the dehydration effects of alcohol that exacerbate the negative effects of semen mixing with urine to cause salt crystals. the only solution I've found is to drink loads of water before and  straight after ejaculation - I think the h2o dilutes any chemical reaction and thus reduces the discomfort. Try it next time.
