I found this thread from experiencing the exact same symptoms. Every heart beat is a sharp throbbing pain when "SHTF"... I am a helicopter pilot in the army, and since my first deployment in 2006 it's steadily gotten worse. At first it was a dull ache. The last time I thought I may pass out. It seems to be associated with the adrenal glands which are located near the kidneys I believe. I'm no doctor but it may also be associated with high blood pressure which I also have. There has to be some diagnosis out there for this.

Interesting. I'm an active 37yr old guy, no meds, no major health issues. I have had the same paralyzing back pain. Once in a close call auto incident, and twice now while experience buck-fever while deer hunting. Thought I'd search online before consulting doctor, and seems to be a somewhat common side effect during an adrenaline rush.

Not me. I am female in relatively good health (except for chronic migraines), and I have had this back pain for years, beginning in my twenties. It never happened to me in traffic, but almost always in arguments with my husband or when startled/angry, and even embarrassed (like having to give an impromptu speech in college). Standing, sitting, it doesn't matter. It makes me dizzy and sometimes queasy, but always drained of energy and sore in my back. It seems that there is no real physical connection between anyone's personal experiences, since we are getting male and female, overweight and not, multiple disorders, etc. The only commonality seems to be the stress = fight or flight. Adrenaline, in other words.

I am a 26 yr fairly healthy male. I played full contact football for 10yrs and wrestled for about 12 yrs. I also have this severe pain in my back during intense stress...but also if im just sittin around lettin my wonder and think of something that angers me, it'll cause the fight or flight response sending adrenaline surging through my body but when it hits my mid to lower back area it almost cripples me and last for several mintues after. Should i be worried?

I never knew there was such a thing as pain from an Adrenalin rush! I was playing an online game and came under attack and really fought back for the first time. I had to work my keyboard fast to avoid being killed and launch a counter attack! I felt my heart speed up, my hands were shaking and then all of a sudden this pain in my lower back, like my spinal column was being crushed. Of course, I recognized the signs of an Adrenalin rush but never had I thought that I'd get the most painful, if short lived, back ache to go with it.

I have exactly the same thing and as it happens I even battle to breathe. It normally happens when I get very angry like road rage or any other upsetting moment

I first got this terrible sensation of doubling over flank pain when my husband passed out and died while he was driving and I was the passenger. Now I get it during any situation involving extreme stress/emotional output. I just rub my sides and call a friend when it happens now and it eventually goes away. I, too, wish I knew if it meant my adrenaline glands are somehow faulty.

I am a police officer of 12 years and 38 years old. This started happening to me recently in intense situations where I had a dump of adrenaline. When I'd get an adrenaline dump Id get a pain in lower back at the kidneys that was momentarely debilitating. It is almost so intense for 30 seconds to one minute I'm a bit nervous about how this might affect my performance of my duties. Any remedies?
