Pain in back during adrenalin rush situations

I suffered from this condition for almost 20 years but once I turned 48 it stopped. All my years of driving I have had my share of road rage experiences which almost always set it off. It was painfully scarey because I was always thinking, how could I defend myself if I can't even stand up? Now I am 58 and I guess my adrenal glands have shriveled up because when I am faced with threats I don't have any fight or flight response anymore. I am not sure this is a good thing or not. I am amazed how this hormone determines how one reacts to fear.

I think it's alcohol abuse. The liver cannot filter the alcohol fast enough. When ur rushed. Stop drinking. Possible liver damage warning

I'm 29 years old and have had this pain several times in my life starting at 22. Most of my experiences come from intense anger while driving or street racing. I had the pains in my lower back today while racing and once earlier this week when I was over joyed with proving my boss wrong at work. My family has a history of anxiety problems and when my father had his kidney removed because of cancer the doctor told him that his body produced an over abundance of adrenaline. This was not related to his cancer so don't worry anyone but I do believe that an over active adrenal gland could be the issue we all have. I'm a generally angry, hot tempered person and so is my father. These could also be some traits we may all posses as a result of higher than normal adrenaline levels. I hope this helps someone.

Finally searching for what might be wrong with me, I came across this discussion. I am currently 37, however, these episodes have happened my entire life. Mine occur during exciting or nervous adrenaline rushes, such as graduation, having my first child, public speaking, right before the big game, etc. Other types of rushes, such as fight or flight, anger, etc do not have this effect and I say this because it seems to be specific types of adrenaline rushes that case each of our crippling pain. This probably has to do with the amount of adrenaline each of us release during different types of rushes, and whichever rush we produce the most adrenaline. That is just what it is, crippling. My pain starts in my lower back and shoots up my spine and down my legs, I can literally feel the adrenaline like it is pumping through my spine. Now for some background. I was always a healthy child and teenager, played many sports, and very active, however, I have always had (born with) spondylosis, spondylolisthesis, stenosis. When I was 13, my back problems flared up, doctors could not find anything wrong with me, no tumors, no significant injuries, but I was not able to walk because of the pain and weakness in my legs. This is when the doctors discovered my back conditions above, and think the significant growth spurt I was experiencing combined with my conditions was causing my problems. I went through 2 months of rehab to strengthen my legs and learn to walk again. So, I believe my spondylosis, spondylolisthesis, and stenosis along with the specific type of adrenaline rush also has to do with my adrenaline problem. Now back to 4 years ago, I had to have a fusion of the L5 and S1 because I also have degenerative disc disease and my disc was gone. My body over healed and wrapped my sciatic nerve in scar tissue and grew an additional bone off my S1 blocking my facet. This has caused me to become disabled due to constant severe back and leg pain. Since surgery I have not experienced my adrenaline rush pain, but I have also not been able to do anything super exciting that would trigger it. So for this reason, I do not think it is an adrenal tumor or any other diagnoses I have read. It seems the cause was just the specific type of adrenaline rush and when that stopped happening, so did the type of pain it caused.

I don't drink so alcohol abuse could not be the cause in my case.

But what if you don't drink and have no liver issues?

I first experienced it about a year after bulging my L5 disc in a workplace lifting injury. It was a classic road rage situation, I was in a hurry and cut someone off, they chased me down and ran over to get me out of the car. I got out and asked what are you going to do about it. Turned out I was a lot bigger and ready to go, so he didn't feel much like fighting after that. I didn't want to fight either, got back in the car and started to drive off when suddenly I felt like my back was being broken by muscle spasms. As you would know, lasted about 30-60 secs. That was two years ago, and its happened every time I had a big, negative-influenced adrenaline rush. I don't think I'd had a massive adrenaline rush like that since the accident, hadn't been doing any sports after the injury, and certainly hadn't been in any serious confrontations in the past year either. I reckon its linked to back injury.

I guess I'm not the only one. I'm 23 male but I started getting these pains on my spin the first time when an id**t ran a red light and almost hit several cars including mines and another time when somebody ran into me in motorcycle safety class. I held the pain in so my instructor wouldn't have to worry and continue the class.. I've been wanting to see a doctor but from everybody's reports I see that's nobody's getting any answers.. If anybody's has an idea of what this could be I would be happy to go see a doctor and be tested for what ever this is

i have the experience especially when i get angry in traffic. my worry is it happens whenever i ride my bike or driving my car. when adrenalin kicks in my lower left abdomen and back really hurts and strong heartbeats. i also searching for answers, my doctor cant give any good explanation. btw im 51 years old and living in United Arab Emirates

My kidneys hurt whenever I confront anyone who insults me. Some people say that my face turns white and my voice tremble during a fight.It is so embarrassing. I told my doctor about this and he has no ready answer.Maybe doctors have no ideas about this condition

I have had this problem for about 20 years... and only after a fight of flight situation. It has put me on the floor many times..and if it strikes while driving, I have to pull in if possible as the throbbing pain is unbearable. After 3 or 4 mins it clears and Im fine.
The one and only time it didnt happen.... I was close to getting into a fight with a guy....I was hoping the pain didnt strike as I would not be able to defend myself....NO PAIN... it didnt happen.... and this was after 2 month of careful dieting... mostly fruit and veg..little meat....Amazing.... and when I came back to eating a normal c**p diet... the problem returned.... make of it what you will... I also developed this pain after a spinal tap. Sometimes the pain will shoot down my legs.

Look into carcinoid syndrome

My name is Jody I am 25 in I live in Burlington nc,,, I 2 share this same pain,,,, I had an intense argument with my girlfriend today while I was driving a work truck,,, good thing I was only going 5mph or this could have been bbad,,, the pulsating pain I felt was intense I dnt even think I could breathe while it was happening,,,,, point is I like your theory of trying 2 find out wat we all have in common,,,,,, I have served in the military,,,, I drank mountain dew everyday,,, I might be 20lbs overweight,,, I smoke,,, I eat alot o chicken and beef,,,, have been around abestos,,, c.s. Gas,,, different mold types,,,,, and never had chicken pox,,, lol just trying 2 think o some random stuff

Does anybody else have the symtoms of adrenal fatigue syndrome? I know I do and I have been experiencing the sharp throbbing pain in lower spine during adrenaline rush. I really think this could be the answer everybody is looking for.
