I'm having those same symptoms for 3 weeks now. Saw my dr. and she gave me meds for esophageal spasms but didn't work. Not scheduled for an endoscopy until August which I feel is a long way to wait. Did anyone get any answers?

So has anyone looked into thoracic outlet syndrome? I think that's what may be causing my pain which feels like the 'balloon' feeling other people have described. I get it in the upper part of my chest and in my collarbones and shoulder joints (both sides but more on my right). It feels like the burp is going to bust everything apart with pressure, then it's gone. I also have woken up nearly every night with a completely numb right hand, even when I'm laying on my left side and the right arm/hand is on top. I guess it's time to go to the doctor.....the scary part is all the diagnostic tests are mega expensive (MRI, CT etc) so it all seems kind of pointless to go in the first place. Tasmania has the worst healthcare system in all of Australia....

I too have had this for years. I always said a torn popsicle stick to describe the pinch I get in the chest. It's all so quick when it happens but can take my breath from me also. My midback hurts also directly through from the chest. If you find out, please tell me. Feel better!

I had x-rays of my sternum and my thoracic spine. Mine was arthritic. I have been to the doctor many times for the sensations you all speak about. Always told different things. It's been on going for many many years.

The upper left side of my chest and back feels tight, but when I burp or drink something hot, it feels better for just a few seconds. What could this be?
