Hello. I'm post gall bladder removal surgery now 15 days. I thought this stabbing rib pain was something extreme. Just left my pcp office. Its apparently rib fracture & rib cartilage inflammatory. Gave me lidocaine injections between the ribs. Says this can remain painful for weeks. To use hot compress for 30min daily & use aspercram.

I had my gallbladder removed a month and a half ago, and had a hernia repaired. I developed this pain under the right rib cage after the surgery. I have a high pain tolerance, so I just keep on going. They are sending me to another Dr next week. It is very uncomfortable and concerning. Constant pain is a sign that something is wrong!

Hi I had my gallbladder removed laparoscopically 8 months ago and still have right rib pain and a dull full feeling that also comes and goes at any time. My surgeon said it could be scar tissue or nerve damage that could take up to a year to heal. Went to family doctor who remembered seeing a woman who complained of the same thing and he gave her these sort of numbing shots (can’t recall what he said they were exactly) along the right side on the ribs at certain acupressure points and her pain quickly went away and did not return!
For me he suggested either trying same thing or getting adjusted by a Chiropractor because when he examined my right side, he gently palpated the area and I was really tender to the touch. He said “You say you feel a deep discomfort there but you are also feeling strong superficial pain which tells me it’s possible it could be scar tissue and one or two of your ribs could be out.”
I chose Chiropractor and have gotten relief by the second day after the adjustment. Have had 4 visits with him with positive results but never permanent.
It has been very frustrating because I am a physical person and feel I can’t do strong things on my right side and I’m right handed. Have also had 2 bad head colds over past 6 months and when I sneeze or cough it hurts in same rib area; not debilitating but sore.
So is it fractured rib or a misaligned rib or something’s wrong with the bile duct/liver? I still don’t know but I do get some relief when I get adjusted and maybe I’ll try the shots at the acupressure points along the lower right ribs.
Hope this helps and big prayers we all heal up and become even better than before!

I had my gallbladder removed one year ago March 2019 , still get the same unbearable pain , in the middle of my upper ribs stabbing through to my back , it lasts from 15 mins to an hour , I’ve tried to control it with diet , not having much luck . It can happen any time , even when I’m out and about . It’s like a time bomb . I’ve had a scan which showed up nothing , think I need to get back the doctor .
In fact it’s worse now than when I had a gallbladder , I beginning to wish I’d left it in

Did you found the cause? What Drs said. Are already fine? After a laparoscopic gallblader remove I had the same pain. After 4 years still the same. I was diagnosed with slipping rib syndrome. This is a nightmare. I was a pro runner. What was your doagnosis?

I had my gallbladder removed in 1981 the old incision way. I recovered fairly well. Move forward to now, I wad sitting on the floor, picked up something with a bit of weight to it, twisted at the waste and felt a pull. The gallbladder incision was so painful but got better. But, now, every time I make the wrong move it hurts again. What on earth be done NOW? I just can't sit around waiting for it to heal. Even if so, it's possible to injure it again very easily. Any ideas on that one?
