Makes me nervous because everyone on here who has this issue is a mother, but I'm a 17 year old girl and it happens to me. I get so nervous to go to the toilet whilst bleeding, it's almost unbearable pain.

Omgggg
Thank you World wide web. ive been reading this for 2 hours or so. I'be been having this for about a year. I am 22 and I workout 4 times a week and eat healthy. I just got my period yersterday and I took a Iburofen 200mg tablet after that the normal pain went away and completely stopped my period for a while. When the period stopped this dreadful pain in my bowl and clevis started coming. I am so glad to find you all who are experiencing this. I could not sleep last night all I did was laying down on the bed to the side I cannot lay on my back. It kills. While I was laying down I was really this tread I felt like we are all from one family. Sometimes i think the cause of this might be Iburofen as it stopped the period for a while. Because I didnt have this pain before I started talkin these pain relief capsules. Also I drink 3 litres of water. Just few mins before I woke up and didnt really have the pain. Then I turned on the bed on my back and omggggg it started again. So the period started again and was not having the period pain. Because i only have the period pain on my first day everytime. So thats lucky but this pain is unbearble. i nearly passed out while I was showing the other day. Okay so back to my story. So I felt like I needed to poo and went in so all those people that is having a hars time with bowel movements. What i did was i bend down while sitting on the toilet seat and when you can feel poo coming down the pain starts right. So what I do is i stop breathing for few secs and breath in. So that's my little trick to ease the pain and it actually works. Never sit upright in the toilet when you have this pain. Omgg it killss. So moving from side to side helps while sitting. Also get uour mind off it think about your crush or simg your favourite song other than screaming. I have not been to the doctor because I only get this on my first and 2nd day and if I take iburofen. Or panadol. So as soon I finished with my bowel movements my pain just went away. i dont know if its like this for others. i am typing now sitting upright and not getting it anymore. I mean i do have a slight feeling of it but not like before. So everytime after I poo it feels so much better and usually the pain stops. i dont know it doesn't make sense. Just like you all i am trying to find a solution too.. I feel like i am about to die when I get this pain its that scary. :( good luck for everyone and will try mango smoothies :)

I'm a mother of three and have been having two day periods since having my last baby 7 years ago. The last few periods I get a migraine the day before and excruciating pain nearing the end of day one. I left a bday party as the pain started and could barely move my legs to switch gears in my car. I didn't think I'd make it home and when I did I had a bowel movement and almost passed out on the toilet. I was clammy, dizzy and weak. Couldn't stand up straight. I had an internal ultrasound three weeks ago and I go for another this week as they saw cysts. It's not fun, but glad to hear that this is quite common and more than likely endometriosis.

So crazy! I had the same thing happen to me with a cyst rupturing on my ovaries. It was terrible. It happened my junior year of high school. I've had the same pains too. I haven't seen a doctor about the pains though.

I'm 17 and my periods have always been painful. However, this year I have developed an extremely painful new symptom. It hurts to pass gas, sit down and my stomach is tender to the touch. Sometimes the pain comes in waves and will paralyze me for about 5 seconds whether that's in the back on my stomach. I miss a days of school because of this each year. I can't eat, it hurts to move when lying down and today the pain was so extreme I throw up. I currently take muscle relaxers for something else and that did little to relieve the pain. Also, it hurts my stomach area when I go pee. I have no idea what's going on, but I don't think periods are supposed to be this painful. This is extremely embarrassing and prevents me from functioning normally. Does anyone know what this may be?

You are not the only one ! I am 21 and this happens to me for about 5 years now . It is indeed a new symptom meaning my periods before 5 years ago did not involve this pain . I have been to every doctor and every specialist known to man and no one can tell me what's causing it or how to make it go away .

I really thought it was something much more serious that is wrong with me, I have even had sleepless nights because I was so worried. Never knew that there were so many persons going through the same thing. I will definitely see a gynecologist asap.

Hi all.I have exactly the same issues. I'm 37, 2 c-sections, pain started right after birth of second child. I wanted to share with you what has worked for me in terms of eliminating the pain. As a last ditch effort, I decided to try acupuncture since nothing else worked. I had 2 sessions the 2 days before my period and noticed an immediate improvement in my pain that very cycle. Now I go once a month the day before my period and it has been outstanding at reducing the pain. Next I quit coffee. I noticed when I resumed coffee, it got worse. So, no more java for this girl- not worth it. Lastly I eat and drink lots of ginger during that time. Candied ginger and ginger tea. I am also considering the oregano and anise tea as suggested in this thread. The biggest thing was the acupuncture though. It was an immediate result and only takes me 1 session a month, right before my period. I was afraid of it at first but it really doesn't hurt - I mean, considering the kind of pain we are used to!!? Its totally worth a try. Hang in there ladies. We are not crazy and we are not alone. We have to be our own advocates because most doctors these days don't have time time or interest in determining the root cause and want to mask everything with prescriptions instead.

I have exactly this problem too and am speaking to doctors at the hospital about it. I have severe stabbing/spasm pains when i have a bowel movement ONLY when i am on my period (worst during heavy days). I have had an MRI scan and Endometriosis has been ruled out, so I will go back to the gynaecologist to see if they have an answer. Although the resounding reaction with all health professionals I've seen so far say they have never heard of this problem before (i am 24 and never been pregnant, the problem started wen I was 19) I will update this if I ever find out the reason for this problem but until then I am on the Ovranette pill which I have been told is safe to take without period breaks so I just have periods when I get breakthrough bleeding now or when I have an easy week free at home to deal with the pain, so generally 2 or 3 periods a year. It's a lifesaver for the time being...
