A little over a month ago I ended up with an extremely large cyst in my groin area. In the crease where your leg and groin meet. I thought it was probably just an ingrown hair and just cleaned it and let it go. Well it ended up having to be surgically removed and repacked 5 times. A couple of days ago I felt it coming back, or maybe it's a new one? Anyway, I have absolutely no medical, and I really couldn't bear the thought of enduring that again. It really is a sensitive area. So anyway, I decided to try to get rid of it on my own, and so far it's working. Actually, it's pretty much gone. I used ichthammal drawing salve. My grandpa used to use it. I took a long hot shower to help soften the skin, dried the area, cleaned it with alcohol, put the salve on, covered it, and whenever I had 5 minutes I put a heating pad on. I take care of twin girls so it might work faster for people that can actually relax for an hour or 2 at a time. By the next morning the swelling was almost gone, and it was barely sensitive to touch. I'm very relieved. I really hope this helps. It did for me.

The best thing to do is get in contact with your general surgeon and have them lanced then removed. I've had cysts most of my life, doing this is the BEST way to get these suckers removed. Just the healing process can be a pain!

Hey the thing you are refering to is an inflimation of that of a lyphmatic nerver due to heavy irritation. The most likely cause is fat in the affected area, say as for the bicyclers problem its heavy amounts of contact. To allow for the cyst to revert in size avoid excercise or any strenous activity involving that area.

I have had this cyst come first when I was 17. I had not been sexually active since 13 so I knew it wasn't an std. I had it on my panty line in the bed of my leg. I cut it open and let it drain. Then it came back, same place when I was 18, 19, pretty much every year. Finallly at 20 I had it lanced and drained, only to have it come back AGAIN. It was almost a monthly occurance around the time of my period so I thought it was hormone related.

At 23 I had the core cut out .keep in mind these all were coming back in the same area. Thecore was remved leaving tons of scar tissue but hey, it stopped.
Until about y months ago...it came back, and here today its back. I've been told its hydrenditist (sp) which is infected hair folical. I quit wearing underwear about 4 yrs ago because I thought friction was causing the cycst to come back.

I just don't understand. Yes mine are very painful and swell up as big as 3 inches long to 2 inches wide and make it very hard to walk.

Steroids, warm baths & compresses never do anything. I basically just have to wait for them to get so big that they rupture on their own.

Just thought id sharr. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. And btw...I'm almost 31...so I guess this is something I will live with for the rest of my life.

Hi! I have been getting these cysts for ten years now.  They keep getting bigger and hurt ten times worse then they used to.  I seen my ob for them and he told me to use antibacterial soap.  I have used it for ten years and continue to get them in my groin area.  I am at my witts end.  They hurt so bad!!! I have what looks like bruising from them, and holes in my groin area.  Which is so embarassing!  I keep myself dry and clean, and don't understand what more I can do.  I love garlic and use it on a regular basis when I cook...guess I could add the pills.  I just wish someone had an answer and way to help stop them!!! I have heard pros and cons to having them laced...someone said they have had the surgery numerous times and continue to get them and now her skin is paper thin, and don't know how many more times they will do the surgery?!? I do the warm baths and heat compress which just brings them to a head and they finally rupture.  The fluid that comes out is thick, and very bad smelling! Any other suggestions as to what I can do would be greatly appreciated!

It took me 5 years of getting these recurring lumps to finally be diagnosed with Hidradenitis Suppurativa. Perhaps this may be what some of you have. See link:

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hidradenitis-suppurativa/DS00818

It has no cure, but for me taking Zinc Supplements have helped. Advil also helps, but I can't take it as I also have a stomach ulcer. I am going to try a low dose anti-biotic treatment now, although since being on a zinc regime, they are less frequent and seem to be less severe when I break out.

Thanks so much for this information!!!  Bless you!  Seriously, I've been dealing with Hidradenitis suppurativa for over twenty years and had no idea what it was for sure, but neither have Doctors bothered to look very far into it.

Somehow I feel so much better knowing what it is even if it's not curable.

Again, I thank you

I also found a cream that I plan to try.  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***

Also, in sharing this information with my family (as the disease is hereditary) I found one of my other daughters is already experiencing the same symptoms and she is only 37. I didn't get it until I was 60.

So even though it is a bit embarassing, make sure you check with other family members, as they may also be suffering in silence.

Also in addition to the Zinc 50 Miligrams twice a day, try advil 2 tablets 3 times a day if you can take it and see if that helps. It helped me until I got my stomach ulcer and couldn't take it any more.

It's a cyst, and they are very painful!!! I get a couple of months but today I have the worst one ever! It started out small like a pimple and now it's the size of an apricot! I iced it all day yesterday to get the swelling down, but today it was the same size, so now I'm using a warm wash cloth to get the hard puss to break up! Its painful to stand or walk, it right the center of my inner thigh where my leg folds to close, on my bikini line on the outside of my panty line. This is where I usually get em, but not always in the same spot! I've read everywhere they take two weeks to go down, so I'm avoiding going to the dr n getting on antibiotics or the pain of surgery...Advil n warm cloths for a few days should do the trick I hope!

Thank You Diana...!!! U were absolutely correct! I thought it was a cyst, but no it was exactly that, aka Abscess/Boil. I researched the difference between a cyst n a abscess, and found that the abscess was warm to the touch n the area around was red and it was much more painful, due to the abscess pus being an indicator of infection! So I toughed it out. I took a warm bath for an hour, took Advil for pain (also for inflammation) and laid in bed with leg elevated with a damp folded wash cloth n heating pad on it to keep warm, did this 3x yesterday for 30min! Woke up this morning to the abscess draining and the redness around it gone! NO MORE pain, I feel like a million bucks and 100% better!!! I cleaned around it with a warm wash cloth, applied neosporin n a large band aid! I've changed the band aid twice, the 2nd time it was cleaner than before! I feel great! I can walk again n no pain! Thank You Diana!!! From start to finish was 8 days!

OMG I am just now going through this and had staph infection which I can not get one healed up 100%. Its been lanced opened 3 times and still can't get it healed. They are referring me to ob/gyn doc. I hope this takes care of it. But reading these makes me think otherwise. I hope you find a method that works and I hope and pray they come up with a better resolution to this ongoing issue.
