I have been told that to avoid risk of cancer the gallbladder should be removed, should I go ahead with surgery[size 2mm/size]

I was also recently diagnosed with gallbladder polyps back in October. I has a surgical consultation with the surgeon who would perform the operation should it become necessary. I have several polyps, the largest being 4mm (or smaller). She was very clear that they do not suggest removing the gallbladder until the polyps grow larger then 1cm. Typically polyps over 1cm is when they potentially become a cancer concern (which is still very rare). The only reason we would decide to take my gallbladder out sooner would be if my pain symptoms become too great.

I hope this helps.

May i ask where you are located and when you were diagnosed with the gall bladder polyps.

Why would they want you to wait until they grow to over 1cm before removing the gall bladder. was there any discussion of how likely they are to be malignant when they do reach 1cm or more?

th;anks.
