Hello. I am a woman 25 years old, and I have an older brother that suffers from paranoia. This has been confirmed by a psychiatrist. In a few treatments, he will tell us what is the treatment. It would be best if we would know what to expect. How is paranoia treated? Please, explain us this, your answer means a lot to us.

Well, always, the first step is to recognize the illness, which you have done. The condition is usually treated with antipsychotic drugs, and with regular talk with psychiatrist, so the problem would be solved. Often, the paranoia has it cause. That is about it. Look good which drug he will be prescribed because some of those have nasty side effects.

Hello there,

First of all it is great that you take care of your brother in such way and it is even more commendable how much you are interested to help him in any way you can.

Usually paranoia has it cause and treatment is usually focused on finding out that cause. This can be very long process and your doctor is going to inform you about it before he starts with psychotherapy.

You and your brother will have to be very patient and sometimes he will be impossible to cooperate.

Also try to talk with the therapist about the medications he will prescribe because sometimes side effects can be very nasty. Choose the best ones for your brother case and good luck.
