Hello. I'm 22 year old male and I have some questions.
I went to the doctors about a week ago and it turned out I have developed some condition called paranychia, which is apparently an infection on my finger.
My GP prescribed me some topical cream called Loprox and I should use it for about two weeks but my fingers are still painful, red and swollen.
So, I was wondering if he did set the right diagnosis. Could anyone describe me some facts about this disease?

I will tell some facts you should know if you want to recognize this condition. Like you probably know- Paranychia is inflammation of the folds of tissue surrounding the nail due to infection.
This can be caused with bacteria, virus or even a fungus.
I don’t think that your GP misdiagnosed you but I believe that the therapy come too late. You see, you have probably developed acute paranychia which turned into a chronic state.
Chronic paranychia is a gradual process and much more difficult to get rid of. There are some things you should know about appropriate therapy-continue with the cream your doctor, avoid wet work and if you can't avoid it-use totally waterproof gloves.
