My partner has been diagnosed with depression and put on Effexor 75mg.
Before he started taking this medication, I admit he was depressed, but since hes been taking effexor everything seems twice as bad.
He now has muscle spasms as his falling asleep, I dont mean one or two twitches, It almost feels like he's having a fit.
Quite offen he will approach me and ask me why I want to be with him and put himself down harshly. No matter how much I try to convince him that I love him dearly and I'm not going anywhere, it happens again in a week or two.
Last night he really scared me when the same old conversation came around, but this time he fell to his knees and couldnt bring himself to stand or move. I had to put him into bed where I made him cuddle me. His body started making alot of twitching and jolting, like his stomach muscles contracting over and over again whilst crying himself to sleep. He could finish a centence and told me he couldn't control it and I could tell it was hurting him.
This went on for about two hours!!
a similar thing happens when he is drunk, but without the depressing mood swings just the physical reactions.
Please help me help him, because he wont help himself.

How long has he been on Effexor?
When you say "fit" do you mean like a seizure? From what I see in your post your partner is having severe side effects to the drug.
He needs to see his doctor ASAP. There are other medication that he can take, not everyone reacts well to all drugs.
Please have him contact his doctor.
