i have the same problem im 14 this the 4th year it always starts a bit before pool season and makes walking painful no doctors ive seen can diagnose it i got prescription cream that helped a little but the one thing i found really halps is gold bond healing foot cream

Same, put on lotion, wear socks, take a bath and try not to pick at it too much.

I’m in a high performance swim squad and my hands peel too. What I did was put tea tree oil on them daily and nightly and eventually they cleared up. Also don’t pick at it, it’ll make it worse!

Wash your feet after exiting the pool, then dry well when you get home apply lotion to dry or dead skin, I had the same problem and this helped, it did not go away completely but no longer caused my feet pain

I was looking this up only as being reminiscient. I used to swim competitively from when I was 10 years old until I was 16. It's the chlorine. It's normal. You can peel off the loose skin, cut off where it is firmy attached, Athlete's foot powder in the socks or cream will help (It's not Athlete's foot, but you'll fight that too in locker rooms) Honestly, it led to me always picking at my feet, no big deal, just not pretty. I'm 50 now and still tear callouses off with nail clippers, then sand with....LOL,, then a hot epsom salt bath. Finish with the cream of your choice....neosporin, aloe, vitamin E or K, whatever...It's not a big deal. You'll be ok. "Eat well, take your vitamins, say your prayers"-Hulk Hogan

It is NOT from the rough concrete surface of a pool -- it is the chlorine combined with sensitive skin, as another poster said. We have a smooth vinyl-lined aboveground pool and this happens to a family member every summer for years now. Also please do not pumice it off per another suggestion!! That is a horrible idea, it would be incredibly painful and could cause infection. Instead, rinse off feet immediately after swimming, washing with a very mild unscented soap if possible. Then apply a rich unscented cream moisturizer and cotton socks. Handle the affected skin very gently at all times and keep it moisturized. Unfortunately there's not much else you can do if you want to participate in swim season.
