I'm a teenager who has had this repeated problem for about the past 2-3 years. It usually occurs around August and sometimes other times around the year the skin just seems to sort of bubble up and peel off. It isn't even like a normal blister where it hardens and sort of falls off the skin remains somewhat soft and seems more like dried glue peeling off rather than skin. Seeing as it was painless I don't usually notice until I see that the skin has already started to fall off. At first I associated this to the fact that I'm a string player in an orchestra but seeing that during the summer I don't actively participate in the orchestra this probably had nothing to do with my playing. It happens mostly on my left hand but sometimes happens on my right as well. At the moment I'm not really concerned just curious as to why this seems to e happening.

Have you been coming in contact with any irritants or used any new lotions, perfumes, etc? It could be an allergy, but it also sounds like a fungal infection. I've been in pharmacy for almost 10 years now and seen many things, including what you describe. A patient once discovered that he had a fungal infection on his fingers which caused healthy, soft skin to peel away. It didn't peel deeply or cause pain, but it sloughed off randomly. The doctor must have prescribed an anti-fungal cream or gel because I never really heard the same complaint again from that patient. I suppose the condition improved.
