I have a problem with upper wisdom tooth. Doctor told me it is perforated sinus. I have no idea what this is. Any advice?

Perforated sinus into the mouth is called oral-antral fistula. If that means anything more :-) ok, mostly this problem will resolve itself and close spontaneously, but sometimes it can cause problems. In that case, it should be closed by the surgeon and you will have to be on antibiotics and decongestants if it occurs. How come doctor didn’t tell you something more about this? Doctors often put a collagen plug into the socket to help form a firm clot. It is the clot that will seal the socket and lead to the closure of the bone and soft tissue, but do not disturb the clot. You should ask your doctor and consult with him/her on this matter. I am really surprised that doc let you off with no explanation!!! Next time, ask him/her.
