I've have Implanon for over a month now and I still haven't started my period. I know I'm not pregnant. My doc told me he thought I'd probably have periods through the summer but they'd get lighter and lighter and basically go away until I had it removed. Anyone get the implant and then not get a period?

I've had my implanon for a year and half now. During the first 6months my period were very irregular, seemed like i was on my period more often than off. I planned to have it taken out because I'd had enough but missed my appointment. Since then my periods have been completely regular and i much prefer it to the pill as I don't have to worry about taking it everyday. It's so much easier than other contraception.
I'm sure it's fine to be irregular for a while you just need time to let your body get used to it. :-) :-)

I have had Implanon for about 3 months. I was on my period when I had the rod put in. Since then I have not had a period and was wondering if I should take a pregnancy test just to put my mind at ease. I have experienced weight gain but I see that I feel like I am always hungry so with a little discipline and excersice I think I should be able to control my weight. I only gained 7 pounds since having the implanon. I experience light headaches but I have a 5 month old daugher and 4 year old son and I am a single mom so putting the headache off on other factors doesn't seem abnormal. About the first two weeks after I had the implant put in I experienced brest soreness, fatigue, nausea, and moodiness but it didn't stick around long. So all in all I love it...I feel fine now and sometimes forget that the rod is there. Talk about a piece of mind. Once I take the pregnancy test I will be completely at ease. I hope this help someone.

Is it normal for me to be like this? I also get headaches like every day and sometimes they are so bad that i cant get out of bed. What should I do? Does anyone know what im talking about and understand what im going through?

I got my implant in a year and a half ago (may o8) I did not have my period at all for over a year (July08-Aug09) but in sept I got my period. I was worried but the doc said it was normal.. It lasted about a week... then In October I got another period that lasted about 2 weeks.. And now in november I have had one for over a week.. But the periods are really weird .. mainly dark blood not heavy but not light.. just weird.. I am considering having it taken out because I dont want to have periods that last this long again. IDK.

I have had no period since starting implanon implant. That was for nearly 1 and a half years. I have now been bleeding for about 5 weeks continuosly and sometimes is brown muscusy colour and sometimes red. I had it looked into the doctor did do ultrasounds nothing showed up. I got no advise.

I will be getting a 2nd opion about this. I don't think it normal to bleed like this and I am sure it can cause you to be emnemic which is what I don't want.

Was it clarified by medical clinic you had a miscarrige?

As far as not having a period it is perfectly save i went three years on depo and did not have a period at all. A few months after geting off of it my period returned ad i got pregnant shortly after. Nt having one for months and then having one again its also normal just a side effect. I have had implanon in for about 5 months and had bleeding her and there some times for a day sometimes for weeks. My only issues is weight gain and my cramps are so much worse now even if there is very little bleeding

hey, i just wanted to say i am on my second implant and would def recommend it. I had my first one out early cos i started having periouds after 2 and a half years of nothing and it is rumoured that it doesnt last quite as long depending on ur bmi. I have had weight gain but find its up and down like a yo yo depending on how well i eat but as long as i dont pig out it slowly drops back off. I just wondered whether anyone has been experiencing sore nipples cos ive had this second one for nearly a year and my nipples are suddenly really sore, i cant even wear a bra!! Hope its not just me but dont worry bout no periods cos i occasionally bleed really lightly but i havent had a real period in over 4 years! Def right choice for me :-)

I had implanon put in a little over a year ago and my periods were a little weird, but they leveled out at about 40 days for 8 days (my normal off any birth control was 30 days with 10 days of a period). my menstruation has been light, however, I needed to be on antibiotics for a sinus infection, and my period started just days after at the normal time, but it's back to the way it used to be--heavy and crampy.
Most of the posts are normal from what I read online with Implanon and it takes a good year to get used to it. Some people's chemical make up makes the symptoms worse for Implanon and if you don't like it, then get off, but not having a period for a while after insertion is normal. The first 3 months I didn't have a period, but afterwards it starts to level out. I know that with any birth control, you need to be careful the first month you use it as the efficiency is not as good, even with the pill.

I know antibiotics do not affect the efficiency of Implanon, but a change in your period might be caused from just that. I know mine was, and I'm hoping that it will go back to normal after this one. So far I love it. I was horrible at taking a pill, and my dr. never recommends the shot as it can cause osteoporosis if used for too long of a time period.

Hey everyone i'm on my second implanon implant the first being placed october 2005 and the second october 2008 in the 4 years i've used it i've had irregular periods throughout sometimes not bleeding for 6 months or more and then bleeding for 6 weeks solid other times just random bleeding at any point, also you only gain weight because your appetite increases you just need to realise you aren't hungry so you don't need to eat that extra portion of food etc i'm hoping to have mine removed in the next 6 months to start trying for a baby i'm 21 and feel this is a good time to conceive , hope this has helped :-)

I got my implanon about two months ago and i started my period the next month. I am still on and its been about 3 weeks now and it hasnt been getting much lighter so i dont think ill be stopping any time soon. I havent had any of the other symptoms i've heard except i have been getting more acne then im used to. Plus im only 15 so i was curious if age makes a difference in the side affects.
