Yes, I've had the same problem. I was CRAZY for a good two months after having it put in. Now I'm completely fine...besides the not having any periods. The side effects eventually went away for me.(it's been 7 months)

I've now had my second implant put in due to having it replaced as it expired! weight gain is said to be a side effect but it is complete c**p that the implant is the reason for weight gain so many people who have the implant dont experience weight gain at all so it is not true it MAKES you gain weight, but can increase apatite. With the same amount of exercise and eating properly instead of snaking due to being hungry you will not gain weight. Ive lost weight while being on the implant and it is really easy to do as my apatite increased i snacked on rubbish which put on the weight but in changing my habits and eating healthy and exercising i am able to lose the weight so weight gain isnt actually true, its just your mind sayin your hungry so you eat and then blame the implant as its stated a side effect! When i went to get my implant replaced i asked the nurse if it was doing any damage to my body due to having no periods and was it normal, i went 2 years of the last implant life span with no periods and was told it was completely normal for it to happen and is not doing any damage to my body. The implant stops the release of an egg from the ovary by slowly releasing progestogen into your body. It thickens the cervical mucus and thins the womb lining. This makes it harder for sperm to move through your cervix, and less likely for your womb to accept a fertilised egg. If pregnancy doesn't happen, the egg is absorbed into your body. The womb lining comes away and leaves the body, mixed with blood, as a period (the menstrual flow). BUT NOT having periods is not harmful to the human body.

HOPE THIS HELPS WITH UNDERSTANDING THE IMPLANT AND YOUR QUESTIONS! AND THE WEIGHT GAIN TO OTHERS CONCERNS!

Its not uncommon to not bleed straight after but if you are concerned talk to your doctor or clinic nurse. I have the implant rod not injection shot but it acts the same some people stop instantly some people have periods regularly everyone is different but as stated if concerned get tested to be sure but with the shot its advised to do a pregnancy test every month or so to be sure.

I actually had my implanon put in about a year ago... right from the start I didn't have any periods... and then as the first of the year approached, (a little over a year of having it) I received my period... and now I've had 2 periods for the month of january... So it makes me wonder.... did I get pregnant and possibly miscarry? Or is the rod not working anymore.... or is my body just finally deciding to have its monthly period.

Hi Whitney
I had my implant fitted Jan 08, so have had it about a year. Had a normal period the next month after gettin it fitted but then they stopped completely (which was ace!)
Since Christmas I've had 3 periods - I come off for a week then it starts again!

Not really had any other problems except spots - I never had them before! And my boobs have grown which is gd!

Going doctors next week to see about my periods as they are really gettin on my nerves - I have a boyfriend so would like to be able to get intimate with him!

Would possibly consider getting mine removed if it continues even tho I dont trust the pill and I wont have the injection.

hi, my name is heather. im on the injection right now. its pretty good i like it. you have n periods except the first month of being on it. but u have all the symptoms and yes u gain yet to. when i started the injection i weighed 165 and now i weigh 225, so u gain lots of weight, but thats normal.

but now its time to get of of the injection bc i have been on it for three years and i didnt know if the implant would be good for me, bc i dont want to use the patch or the pill or the ring thing that goes up in you...

so i need to know would the implant be like the injection??????

I've had the implanon in for about 2 1/2 months. I had a little pregnancy scare about a month after getting the implanon. I was feeling very neasus, back pain & what not. I took a pregnancy test but it came out negative. I just had a baby 7 months ago. Also my boyfriend an I had unprotected exactly 1 week after i got the implant. I've been bleeding more than usually i got my first period around the 15 of august ended around the 18th. Then i got another 3 day period on the 21st. Now it is the 19th & i started bleeding again. I haven't been feeling well & i have been pretty moody.. Kind of how i was with my last pregnancy. My boyfriend and I are scared i may be having a miscarrige. Is it possible ? Please let me know as soon as possible.

I REALLY NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON WITH ME . Thank you (:

Hi- I have had the implant for 4 years now and have not had a period! It is completely normal. 1 in 3 people who get the impalnon don't experience any bleeding at all! You have nothing to worry about if your not getting your period, your implant is doing the right thing !
