Just thought I'd share my story for anyone who ends up on this thread like me!! I have my third implanon bar around a year and a half now so that's 8.5 years ( I accidentally had one in for an extra year with no side effects or pregnancy). Never had a problem with any of them (little to non existant), until now I'm having 2-3 periods a month for almost 9 months, its safe to say I'm going crazy, I've had all the tests to rule out anything else, so its definitely the bar, my doctor thinks the bar is just from a bad batch and is changing it out for a new one next week. In the nine months of constant bleeding the doctor did give me the pill for a few months (on top of the bar) to try and stop the bleeding which it did completely but literally one day after taking the last pill it started again. Fingers crossed the new one will be ok as the previous two I had were a dream. It doesn't damaged your fertility and when getting one in or taking one out, it is totally normal to bleed irregularly for a few weeks.. PS be careful to remember to get a blood test to check your hemoglobin and ferritin levels if bleeding alot as you may loose a lot of your bodies stores with all the extra bleeding and end up on the road to anemia. Best of luck :)

For starters the implanon works on everyone differently, your body doesn't work exactly the same as the girl next door, so you will experience different symptons on the implanon and a doctor can only tell you what can happen and not what is going to happen so you need to find out that yourself and now that you have you know it's not for you anymore. By the way the hormone in the bar is running out of hormone hense why it needs to be removed at about 3 years as this happens your body is regulating itself back to having a period.

I must admit I laughed at your stupidity of trying to remove it yourself, you could have just made an appointment with your doctor for removal dumb arse!!! Hope the infection was worth it!

Yep it's great isn't it? I haven't had a period in 4 years up until today (I'm on my second bar now) I've changed my diet and started a fitness program in the last 4 months and believe this is why I have only just got my period today. So things can change depending on you lifestyle. I'm spewing I got my period back after 4 years now lol!!

No this birth control I’ve used 4 times in a row. No weight gain, no periods and no side effects that are any worse than having a monthly cycle all together. I’m not even sexually active and I take it just so I don’t have periods and all the bad that goes along with periods.

I have a contraception rod and ever since the start of that month I've had spotting or really light periods. Today is 2 months and 2 weeks and I haven't stopped bleeding. Is there something wrong with me?
