I'm close to the end of my implanon, got six months left, and had a period in January/February. My period ended and I had sex with my ex, and we of course had an oops and he came inside me. Since then I haven't had a period, I've gained weight and I'm very crampy down there. It's been about a month. Has anyone else had this happen. I was told that a normal pregnancy test wouldn't tell me if I was pregnant or not, that Id have to go get a blood test.

I had my Implanon inserted 9 months ago, ever since I have had it inserted my periods are all over the place! For example - I had my period for 5 days from Sunday last week until Thursday last week, & yesterday (after only 5 days of not having my period, I have it again. Is this a sign I should have my Implanon removed? Or is this normal? I thought that having Implanon would stop my period all together.

I have had mine for a year and my periods went from every 4 weeks to about every 6 or 7 weeks. I havent had one in about 7 weeks now so I get confused and worried if I might be pregnant but I havent talked myself into taking a test yet. Implanon can stop your periods thats why I try not to worry about it but it can also make them go all over the place as you said yours are doing. Mine have always been normal just farther apart, My friend has it and she never even got one. I have heard of it starting crazy but then finally working out to where it is normal or stops so I would just wait it out as long as you can take it. Its frustrating and doesnt make sense but maybe talk to your doctor. The craziest thing about Implanon is the periods but as long as its not constant and you never have a break I think its a good sign it may be normal one day!!

Hey, so I got my implant put in about a month ago and a week after I got my period but I haven't got one since? So I read on the nsh and they said it is completely normal for periods to stop.. I also haven't had any side effects except the odd time I would get a sore head but after taking tablets it would disappear.. I haven't put weight on either so I think I may be one of the lucky ones :)

I had the implant put in around September 1st, and my periods lasted longer than 2 weeks. My doctor told me to take the pill for 2 months without the pills that make you have your period. And as soon as I went off the pill, I started bleeding again. The implant works as I am not pregnant after being intimate with my partner. Wondering on what to do now? It's a real nucence to have my period for such a long time.

I had the implant in oct 2011. Immediately after I had two weeks of none stop breeding. Although I have never suffered with heavy periods. But after that two weeks I had nothing for a year and then started again but regular as clock work. Last 6-7 days. Not very heavy and not much pain. But in the last few month's im getting heavier bleeds and real bad cramps and back pain. Now I only have seven months till its due to be removed. Was wondering whether its worth to have out early?

The most common side effect is irregular and sometimes constant periods which is what causes most people to have it removed. I was on seaonale which was supposed to give you your cycle every three months. I bled constantly for the first several months then it slowed down and regulated itself. Then I was on the Depo for 9 months...3 shots. I never had a period except twice while on antibiotics. Then I had the nexplanon implanted. I have had the implant for 1 and a half years. Ocassionally I would have breast pain but never had a period. Now I have started spotting. It happens. Its normal. It is a side effect. I worried at first about it as well. But have done a lot of research and asked my Dr. Since I am only spotting and cramping a little I will not have it removed, but If I start bleeding and having long cycles that never seem to end like others have complained about I may take a break from it and go back to the Depo for a few cycles and then return to the nexplanon.
