Yes, I was using the shot for a year before I got the inplanon and I had one tiny tree day period. After that I got the implanon and bled for 5 months straight and then had no period for over 6 months and now I am bleeding again. It's all normal with these types of birth control.

Hey, you're absolutely fine. These are common side effects, perhaps the implanon just isn't for you. Just explain the situation to your doctor and they'll assure you that it's completely normal, and probably recommend you have it taken out to stop the headaches and mood swings :)

I had mine put in Jan 2012, i was on my period when it was inserted and within 12 hours i stopped bleeding.  I have been completely period free for a year now, but i do still get some mood swings, nothing major. and it only happens every 2-3 months or so.  I have to say, with the exception of the mood swings, i quite enjoy it!

I got my implanon in august. The first 2 months when I got my period it would last 2 weeks. Last month it was shorter than normal and this month it came almost 2 weeks early. It is also been spotting too. I start and then after and hour or so it stops and then does it all over again. Sex has also been very painful but I figured that was from the LEEP surgery to remove my abnormal cells on my cervix. I have called my OB/GYN twice and nobody has called me back like they said they will. I'm getting worried that I might be pregnant but the test come back negative.

Many of you SHOULD be worried. Implanon is the worst birth control method I've ever used. I've been pregnant on it once, and was 6 months along and didn't know until I had a miscarriage. Then Adagio put me on birth control on top of my Implanon and didn't tell me that it completely cancels out my implanon, so I am getting it removed by Friday in case I am pregnant. I've been bleeding almost everyday since May, and I don't recommend this to ANYONE!

mine comes out in september of this yr, and i had period like bleeding last month and again now this month, i was wondering if anyone has talked to a doc to find out why this is happening. a friend of mine had somewhat the same prob and the doc said that the closer to the removal date you get it could become less effective. please let me know if anyone has found anything out.thank you!

This is exactly what happens to me. I've had my implant for a little over 2 and a half years and the day after I had it put in I had a period for 2 weeks (which was miserable) then it was a year before I had another one. I would say that I've had about 5 or 6 periods in over 2 years. In the last month I've had 2 periods, I figure that perhaps because I'm coming to the end of the implant being in and it's trying to regulate my body again.
My sister had it but she had more bleeding than before so she had it taken out - its different for everyone but it's totally normal to be so all over the place. My tip.....always be prepared (keep something in your handbag) - I got relaxed as it had been about 8 months and then got caught short at work. It's no fun having to ask your co-workers for a loan :-)

I had implanon put in about a year and a half ago. I guess its perfect for me because. I do not have periods ( I have period symptoms)  I do not cramp like I did when I had no birth control, I do not have mood swings, and have not become pregnant. I LOVE implanon.

I had the implanon put in 6 weeks after i had my daughter i have had no period but have had horrible weight gain i exercise everyday and cut out sweets and soda and do a 1200 cal diet i still keep gaining weight and noticed i have had been getting dizzy and very tired lately...i consulted my doc since ive only been on this 5 months she told me to stick it out and exercise more and that im tired and dizzy from not enough water( i drink 3 liters a day) I'm getting a second opinion and am thinking about removing it. I'm not ready for another baby yet but cant get close to my weight and being in shape goal when i weigh 20lbs more than i did when i was at the end of my pregnancy!!! The only plus i have had is the no period but with all the other downs I refuse to get another one or recommend it to friends not a good choice

I just thought I should share my good experiences with implanon, since a lot of the women here only seem to have horror stories to tell.

I had implanon inserted approximately eight weeks ago, right before I was expecting my period. My period came right on schedule. It usually lasts for about seven days, but this time it lasted for ten. A bit annoying, but no big deal.

I haven't had a period since. I read forums such as these and was afraid that my implanon would turn me into a chronic bleeder, but this isn't the case. I know I'm not pregnant; just to be sure, I take a pregnancy test once a month.

I love it and my boyfriend loves it. I would definitely recommend trying it out.
