Hello. I'm 36 year old female and I'm really worried about my daughter. These last couple of days she’s been acting kind a strange and I would like to find out what’s happening with her.
About two weeks ago she started to act strange, often acting very nervously. She also started to act like she developed serious depression and definitely lost all her motivation.
When I asked her what’s going on- she denied telling me anything. But her best school friend told me that she breakup with her boyfriend and that it is a probable cause.
She didn’t leave her room for weeks now and I'm afraid she could develop some psychotic disorder. Can anyone please tell me more about this!

Hello. I'm very sorry that you daughter is having those problems. I know some facts about most common psychotic disorders in younger people. In great majority of people we are talking about two disorders- depression and bipolar disorder.
I don’t know how much do you know about all this but adolescents and young adults are at highest risk for having their first psychotic episode, and the breakups are the most common cause.
She has almost all the symptoms but they could get worse and she might be experiencing rebellion or aggression acts, loss of interest in school. Child may notice changes in her hearing or vision. Good thing about all this is that after short psychiatrist counseling symptoms go away for good!

Hi well most teenagers go through rough break ups since they are in the age of thinking anything is the end of the world to her. Try talking to her to comfort her about her break up ,
Talk things out with your daughter , sounds to me like there is a communication problem here.
but she will be fine dont let it pass more then a month . Get her to go , out take her out.

The possibility of drugs being used is also there but i doubt it i think its just a break up issue.
Delicately try looking for signs of drugs been used if its the case.
but first start by actually talking to her .

Hope this helped . sincerely Kamila

Hi
This happened to my daughter last year at college, turns out the breakup was due to another girl and she was bullying my daughter, word for word same reaction, my daughter told me because I guessed most of it. Quick word with school could sort it but I think best to just let her get on with it.
Make plenty of jokes but keep off the subject, shell tell you if she thinks you won't make judgement, like the last person said I doubt it's drugs.
