I had an abortion on 3/11/08 and have been reading the forums on this website for information on post-abortion care. Much of what I have read has comforted and/or advised me well, so I am hoping that you can lend some advice to me personally. In the few days following the abortion, I felt ok-nothing out of the ordinary. Two days after the abortion, I passed two small clots of grey tissue, one the size of a dime and the other the size of a pea. I did not think anything of it, since I have had very light bleeding. However, I just visited my clinic's website and they said to save the tissue in a jar and call immediately if this happens. Now I am very worried. In addition, I have run out of the Motrin 800 (which is starting to give me a stomach ache anyways) and the pain in my abdomen is still persisting. And I can "feel" my ovaries, much like I can when I ovulate. I want to note that I did have sex with a condom yesterday (3/15/08) even though the clinic advised against it. Although I was slightly tender, it did not hurt as my partner was very careful. Please let me know what the tissue actually is and whether or not I should be worried. Also, I am terrified of getting an infection, so I did a medicated douche (also advised by the clinic) following sex. Prior to using one, I had many inhibitions about douches. I chose a non-scented, unperfumed, medicated douche. The clinic advised to use it ONCE. Can I or should I use it more than once and what are the ramifications?

Hello,
I had an abortion just over a year ago when i was 12weeks gone, and i also had small clots. I had very heavy bleeding but got lighter after about a week and half. I got small clots which was also grey tissue, i got worried and i went back to the hospital. They said there was nothing to worry about.
I got really bad lower abdominal pains aswell, and again the hospital said this was normal, i just took painkillers.
I really dont think you should we worried about anything, but if you are,you should of been given some information from the hospital and 24 hour help line. Call them to reasure you.
i hope i was of some help to you.

Thank you for your reply. The fact that a hospital told you not to worry makes me feel better and I can wait until I see my doctor next week for a follow up. Really, I was in so much pain yesterday that this occurrence was in the forefront of my brain; however, I am sure now that it was 5 days of Motrin 800 that had my body in aches. Best.
