Doc said I have hypospadias and need surgery for it. Might be a contributing problem to these unwanted night erections.. any of you have hypospadias as well?

I have hypospadias. Crazy. Not sure if that's it but the first time I've heard someone else with srpe and hypospadias. My urologist said mine doesn't have to be repaired unless it bothers me.

Interesting that we both have these conditions. Well to be honest, they are both rare conditions. I didn't find out until today when I saw my urologist and he was going to insert a tube in my penis to check for any bladder abnormalities with a camera. It was until then when I yelled "stop, you can't insert it through there!" And he said "why not", then I had to explain to him that I don't pee where normal men pee, I pee through a small cut on the side of the head lol. He then thinks it might be due to that, so he referred me to a surgeon in Denver that specializes in penile reconstruction and prolonged erections. I will be getting it fixed, just made my appointment.

My urethra goes to the end of my penis it just continues open underneath the foreskin about 1/2 an inch. Doctor looked at me and said "piss on your shoes sometimes?" Yep. Said if it isn't causing too much of an issue he wouldn't recommend surgery.

Is this still john? Mine isnt even bad at all. It's literally a small cut next to the penis hole. It's still in the head of the penis but just on the side. Mine is seriously about a centimeter away from it. Don't need surgery but doctor recommended it just to see if it will aid the problem.

Yep sorry forgot to sign my name. John here. Mine sounds similar. It should be just at the end but my opening goes under the penis at least half an inch. Doesn't affect anything and have had three kids so up until now no issues.

That is very good to know! I don't have kids at the moment. Fairly young I'm currently 20. I am very excited to hear you have these two conditions. If one more person mentions they also have hypospadias and SRPE, I will jump to the conclusion that they might be related. John, would you mind exchanging emails or another way to communicate so we can keep in touch? For some reason, I feel closer to the cause.

I myself have been suffering from this condition for about 3 months now and I can confirm that no urologist seems to have heard of this problem and can help. I am in touch with the team of Dr. Mels F van Driel from the University of Groningen who seems to be one of the few who is actively doing research here.

I was told that two new articles will be published in the future and one outcome was that pelvic floor muscle therapy could be effective.

My question is: Has anybody of you guys had any success with it and if yes which kind of exercises do you do? Could you perhaps provide a reference?

Thank you and try to keep your hopes up (as I try to do that too, which is not easy...)

Most of us have been with this condition for at least a year. Have any of you done a cystoscopy or a spine MRI? Those are the only things I have not checked

I agree arginine may play a role. I took supplements contaning arginine and the problem started after that. I stopped taking those supplements and it stopped, allthough it persisted for a year. I then started the supplements again at a oower dose and the problem has returned. The frustrating thing is how long it persists for. As arginine sems to be connected I wonder if diet could play a role generally, eg different amino acids. Sorry about the typos, I see unable tomgo back into the text to correct, hope what i wrote is understandable.

Any correlation between sleep apnea and this condition?

One study showed a correlation between the two. Who knows exactly why though. I can tell you that I have sleep apnea and wear a mask however it does not eliminate the condition. In one study I saw that it did for one man.
