I am 49 years old and have 3 grown up children and always had very regular periods and not very heavy apart from after giving birth to my children, The problem is the last two years my periods have become more frequent and very heavy, recently I was rushed into hospital to have an emergency blood transfusion as my blood count was dangeriously low, since then I have been having very large blood clotts and periods lasting at anything from 17 days plus. I was addmitted to hospital 4 weeks ago for pain in the tummy and loosing loads of blood and had to wear adult nappies as I was to ill to get out of bed they fitted me with a catherter and was checked every hour, the first evening the nurse came to check me she pulled the sheet from over me and said '' Ohh my god it looks as though its been a chainsaw masacre'' as I was in such a mess she asked another nurse to assist with the changing of the nappy and cleaning me up, I was helped out of bed and the nappy was taken off and they turned white, she then asked me if I knew I was loosing clotts and I told her that I had been doing so for a few months but when she promptly put the nappy into a bedpan I become aware of the size and number of them, they were bigger than a chickens egg and about 6 of them, she rushed out of the room and showed the Dr who in tern was astounded, I was treated for the other illness and given the mini pill to take on the firs day I finished my period I was told to take 3 a day for 10 days and then 2 a day untill I received an appointment with a Gynacolagist, Dispite bleeding for 14days before finally finishing to take the pills within 5 days of starting them I started again and with the same clotts, pain, cramps and lack of energy from before, I have now been on for 34 days with no sign of giving way so now have decided to stop taking the pills as they dont seem to be doing anything for me. My sympathy goes out to all you ladies out there who is suffering the same as me, I just hope the future is brighter for ALL OF US! XXX
I was on the contraceptive implant and bled continuously for 9 months! it was awful. Was then put on the injection which has been alot better. Then i started to bleed after sex and it was extremley painful! hope the gynacolagist helps! i went to one and was told i was normal!!
