I smoked for six years you can call me chain smoker. I dropped smoking and now it's 6months. I had GERD pblm, gas pblm, heartburns, sinus, headaches, no energy, and many other..

Maintained diet, worked regularly, exercise, yoga, warm water early mng, good diet. No smoking , no drinking, drink milk, lemon tea, keep ur self busy. Let the toxins move out of Ur body.

Don't worry much or concentrate on why this is happening. Consult a doctor for removing toxins from Ur body.

Very interesting, found this as a result of serching for nicotine as a pre nasal drip remedy. I am a non smoker recently starting using nicotine replacement products for weight loss(gum and lozenge) (thermogenic effect with caffeine(nc stack) and appetite suppressant) been suffering pre nasal drip last few years. The nicotine has alleviated my pre nasal drip symptoms i am certain.Cant find anything on this phenomena.

Thank you all. It’s only been 2.5 weeks since I quit. Not my first time quitting, but the most annoying. Since quitting, I’ve developed a cough and dry throat, acid reflux all day (no matter when I ate), and non stop crying.

I’m glad to be quit, but this feels like punishment on top of punishment.

Hi there. It is so good to read so many of your mesaages. I was a smoker for 10 years age 16 to 26. Smoking 10 to 15 a day.
It has been 7 months since I quit. I have never felt any worst than what i am feeling now.. i feel my brain is dead.. it just doesn't want to concentrate. I am listening to people and still not listening. My anxiety levels are so high.. i used to think there is no such thing as anxiety and depression but boy let me tell you how wrong I was. I have been really bad for the last few months and think I am just going to die with this. This whole thing is ruining my relationship , work etc.. everyone I know say how different I act now..
It got to the point where I bough nrt gum 3 weeks ago and have only had it 5 times.. i think it helped but cant be sure..
I feel there is a contant light pressue on the left side of my chest and neck.. i am beginning to lose all hope and think the only way back is to smoke... I altry and tell myself that it will be okay but when.. every professional I have spoken to tells me that ohh it has been so long and might not have anything to do with quitting.. have run all tests and fine..
Can someone please shed somelight and convince me that it will be okay ... :(

Sorry you are having problems. I went thru the same thing and still having brain fog. Try caffeine pills (small dose to start or will be jittery). It helps brain fog. Be very careful of the nicotine gum (all over internet that it ruins your teeth). I used Walmart brand MINI-lozenges to quit and just started back using again to help with fog. I think it helps but then makes it worse when it wears off (just like smoking a cig) so you need more. Hope this helps. Hang in there.

I have not started smoking yet.But I still have very hard days.I go to a psychiatrist who specializes in addictions. But the doctor thinks that he is not linked in the cigarette, especially if his physical dependence has already been over. The doctor said it was a mixture of ocd, gad and hypochondriasis. I had the same psychological problems when I quit 1.5 years in 1999. , I returned to normal after I started smoking .

1999 1,5 year stop smoking anxiety and depression I returned to full normal 8 months after starting smoking

2006 6 mounts stop smoking anxiety and depression I returned to full normal 3 months after starting smoking

2010 8 mounts stop smoking anxiety and depression I returned to full normal 2 months after starting smoking

2012 6 mounts stop smoking anxiety and depression I returned to full normal 4 months after starting smoking

2016 - Today 19 mounts stop smoking anxiety and depression I dont smoking and Im very bad

I do not agree with doctors. Because they say it can be a coincidence that I live after quitting smoking

Hello everyone. I am 26 years old, started smoking 11 years ago around 1 pack of cig/day, stopped smoking 3 months ago. What I learnt about myself is that smoking masked a deep anxiety problem. Combined with alcohol, crazy nights and addictive relationships, they had a huge negative impact on my health even if I am so young!! they caused me gastritis, respiratory problems, hemorrhoids, and the worst, spondylosis all at their peak, together, one year ago!! I couldn't believe that being only 25 years old I felt worse that my grandmother who is 71!! Fortunately, I was conscious that I had to prepare myself before quitting so I started changing some habits. Beside, I took anxiety and depression therapy for 2 years that really helped me a lot. Today I see quitting cigarettes as the final step of a healing process. Also, half a year before quitting, I started eating healthy and to exercise. By eating healthy I meant avoiding all irritating foods and AVOID any kind of medicine that masks gastritis symptoms. I avoided for some months alcohol, tomato juice, orange juice, fast food, etc and started cooking my food. I try to eat 2-3 fruits a day and 5-7 serving of vegetables. The doctor that attended me told me: You can overcome your gastritis only by changing your diet, pills won't help you too much. Today, I can say that I can basically eat everything, but I try to include in my diet at least 75% of healthy and home cooked stuff. 2 times a weak fish, two times a weak only veggies, two times a weak chicken meat and 1 time a weak red meat. Since I quit smoking and with those important diet changes, I don't have problems with my stomach anymore (only if I went out with friends two nights in a row, eat out and drink alcohol I feel some acid reflux, but nothing compared with what I felt one year ago), I do not have hemorrhoids anymore and I DID NOT GAIN A POUND OF WEIGHT.

Recommendation number 1: Change your diet and your relationship with food. The best accessible info on internet is here https://www.choosemyplate.gov/.
Recommendation number 2: You anxiety is not because you quit smoking. but because is can be an untreated problem related with something else. Try to face it, treat it and minimize its uncomfortable expressions.
Recommendation number 3. A healthy diet, exercise and quitting cigs will minimize anxiety problems, weight loss and any other side effects and will make you feel more in control of your life.
Recommendation number 4. The worst and one of the withdrawal symptoms I couldn't avoid is sinuses congestion.. to wake up in the morning with phlegm in my throat, very bad breath and sometimes chest pain it's a really nightmare, especially when you put so much effort into feeling better. However, in the last two weeks I started feeling better but I also took some measures. I bought an air purifier (as I also live in a very polluted city), I bought a microfiber thing to clean out dust every 2 days without any chemicals, only water, I do every 2-3 days inhalations with fresh eucalyptus leaves and sometimes when I feel really bad I take a hot bath and ask my wife to give me a chest massage with Vaporub. Cleaning your throat with salt and warm water also helps. I also eat spicy food (I live in Mexico City) and it's one of the most efficient expectorants.. as long as you make you own salsa/guacamole and do not eat industrialized stuff as it can irritate a lot your stomach.

The truth is, smoking makes you have other bad habits as well and when stop smoking you should start focus on what else is wrong (psychological problems, health problems, nutrition problems) and do your best to fix it.

Well, I am truly sorry for smoking, is the biggest regret of my life, and I really hope I can say one day that I feel 100% healthy, without worrying too much of dying because of a smoking related illness.

P.S. Sorry if my English sucks, I am not a native speaker.
