It has been 229 years that this Alaska's island if free from rats again. 229 years ago Japanese shipwreck spilled rampaging rodents onto the remote Aleutian island. They have devastated the bird population. Now when there are now rats the locals are saying that some birds are coming back to the island. This is a good example how the ecosystem of one place can be devastated with only one thing.
Does anybody has similar example of ecosystem going bad?
I don't remember the name of the island so hopefully someone can actually pitch in there but I know there was an island in Canada where there was a big deer population that exploded on the island and the deer ended up overrruning the entire island. AFter two or three years, though, they ate everything up and ended up dying out. It was pretty crazy to hear about. Does anyone know the name of the island I'm thinking of?

Wow. They eat all the food and died. It is a cruel way of nature. I don't know the name of the island, as a meter of fact I've heard it just from you. Was this long time ago? Wasn't there anything that someone could've done?
