I have been living with reactive hypoglycemia since I was 15. After having my second child I wanted to lose the last few baby pounds (about 16 pounds). I was breastfeeding and figured I was eating about 4000 cals/day. I reduced my cals to 2000 and went for two-one hour walks a day pushing two children in a stroller. In one month I put on 35 pounds. The doctors ran all the tests and couldn't find anything wrong with me. Since then I have been struggling with my weight. That was 14 years ago. Now I am a stay at home mom with four kids. I eat healthy and work out 3-5 times/week-one hour cardio and then light weights. I went to see a dietician who told me I wasn't eating enough cals to support me and also asked that I increase my breads/cereal food group. I am on a gluten free diet as I can't tolerate it so my food alternatives are made with rice or corn and I have to be careful on how much I eat to keep my sugar levels right. It has been four months now and I haven't dropped a pound or lost any inches. I eat 6 times/day, two food groups at snacks and three at meals as instructed and try to follow the Canada food guide. Anybody know what I am doing wrong? Since I can't eat wheat, should I be cutting out the breads/cereals food group all together?
