For about 3 months now i have had a largeish red area on the top of my shaft near my stomach and smaller ones up the shaft. They came from no where, my girlfriend had been away for a month so i had not been engaged in any sexual activity for a while. Its red and quite dry, and after i shower or engage in sexual activity the dry skin peels away and the skin is really fresh and it has cuts on it. on several occasions it has started to bleed, but only for a minute or two before stopping. it stings heaps and whenever i shower it is quite painful. I have been using different types of cream for it, which helps temporarily but doesnt heal it at all. The cuts always reappear in exactly the same spot and they are still visible when the skin is semi-healed. I am considering an anti-fungal cream to try and calm the inflamation of the area but i do not know if that is appropriate.
I am yet to go to a doctor as i am only 16 and havent told my parents or anyone. I was just wondering if anyone has had the same thing and have a diagnosis for it? I have donated blood within the last 3 weeks, and my results from the Red Cross came back saying that my blood WAS used for someone else, meaning it was disease free.

Hi Guest,
A yeast infection is a strong possibility.
You could try Lotrimin. It's often used for "jock-itch." Also, do not use any harsh soaps or cremes. Try to keep the area clean and as dry as possible.
If that fails it's time you tell your parents. 3 months is a long time to have any sort of medical issue, especially one that won't resolve on it's own.
You may need something with a prescription.
Good luck.

Hi, I have been searching yeast infections as i thought this was a possibility also, however yeast infections are said to cause "penis discharge and pain when urinating". I suffer from neither of these and have not the whole time ive had the dry skin, this has led to me believing it is not a yeast infection? If i go to a pharmacist in my area would they be able to provide me with a professional view on the situation and give me details as to what medicine/spray/cream i should use?

A yeast infection on the exterior of your body guest won't cause discharge. Are you circumcised or not?
It could also be a fungal infection.
A pharmacist is not a doctor. They can't prescribe medications.
