I have many blood relatives who are redheads (on both sides of my family).
My hair is in between brown-red-yellow, depending on the light/season, it baffles me really (some people have commented i am blonde while others seem to think my hair is light brown) ...
anyway ... i got sunburnt even applying sunblock, but when i eventually tan then the skin looks more yellowish/orange than anything else ... even after hours of sun exposure i never get a brownish tan ... why is that??????

I am auburn haired. I have a lot of freckles and i can tan easily. Not complete brown or black, a light nutmeg or golden beige at the most. Or im yellowish pale throughout the year. I can become a good dark nutmeg when exposed to sun too much and sunburn and peel too. My hair is chocolate brown with red here and there and in sunlight my hair glows red. Lol.

I have more of a ginger color, but i am pretty close to the same as you described. Some of us can aquire a natural tan in the sun, its kinda awesome. And tans look really nice with the hair.

I'm a read head too. I always wanted to get a dark tan to so just keep your hopes up and put tanning lotion on and you have to stay out in the sun for like an our... I hope you have your wish and ill try to get my wish to and see what i get for my wish because all my wishes didn't come true and i just got burnt. Sometime in this summer i'm going to try and see what i get. Your welcome for the advise and i hope it works for you.

I am red hair blue eyes and have lots of freckles. I work construction out in the hot sun in the summer and my arms and neck eventually get dark. This year I bought my wife a tanning bed . I have been getting in it every day for 2 months. I am now darker than a Hispanic guy I work with . It's all about what tanning lotion you use and starting out just laying for a few minutes. Then stay a minute longer until you turn red. Then I keep staying at that length until it doesn't make me red anymore . I am up to 20 minutes now. I hope this helps .
