Hey abby,
my partner is as freaked out as you are. I connected to your post and the words you were using because I hear them from my partner daily.
From the point of view of the one having the seizures, know that we appreciate your concern and your love and drive to keep us safe!
One thing my partner and I did was get help so we can talk to each other about it. She needed to let out how scared she was about what happened and I needed to hear what happened but neither of us were stable enough to talk without guidance. It helped us cope and it gave me a more positive way to see the situation.
One thing she suggested to us was to buy baby monitors.. that way when I was sleeping and my partner was not in the room she could still keep that watchful ear on me comfortably continuing on with her life instead of being upstairs stressing out and having to run down every 5 seconds. Having her not be as stressed makes it easier for me to calm down about it also!
Your doing an amazing job!! And your right always just keep her as safe as you can she should come out of it just like before but if it becomes to long or if it changes drastically then yes, call 911 and get some help!
good luck with everything

I started havin grand mal seizures two and half years ago when I was 5 months pregnant with my daughter..I have had every test imaginable done and they have me on medication but they cannot tell me what is wrong..They said that there is not damage to my brain in anyway and they just dont get what is causing them..But they have never hooked me up to an EEG and made me seizure..I think that is the best way to figure it out..And because I only seizures when I am sleeping it is wicked scary coming to and finding out I had a seizure..When I come too I have no idea where I am or what has happened..Just know that my head and tongue hurt..I just had one last night and I am going to feel like c**p all day today..I just wish I knew where I could go to find out why at 21 and pregnant I started having seizures..

I can understand all of you...... I've had seizures and epilepsy since six months of age, and they have yet to tell me the cause, 'nor have they found a medication to control the seizures. I'm currently 31 and have every male seizure type in the book, as I sit here and still wonder the cause of the problem & when are they going to fix it

I just started having severe shaking seizures this last year, not associated with blood sugar drops ( I am a type 1 diabetic and am 29). I am currently undergoing a sleep study to determine if its apnea/oxygen deprivation, and next I see a neurologist.
This comes after a 2 year long stint with gastrointestinal issues, horrible fatigue, shakes and chills, constant body pain/malaise/soreness all over, as if I climbed a cold mountain the night before. I only have the shudder seizures at night and my boyfriend touches me and usually I stop.

I'm 49 years old and have a rare disease call Arnold Chiari Malformation, ACM as well as a host of other issues, not diabetic. But that's the least of it. For the past year and half, I have had seizures in my sleep. Some nights their so bad my husband spends the night holding down. But not only in my sleep mild ones as I sit and relax during the day and a few while I write this. During the day while relaxing it's more like a jerk. The Neurologists and Urologists haven't got a clue as to why. Has anyone heard anything?

My husband has seizures in his sleep sometimes. They are usually due to lack of sleep (he has insomnia) and/or stress. His shaking awakens me and I make sure he is on his side or back, pry losse his hands and yell his name or shake his upper body to pull him out of it. Waking him up shortens the seizure and (my guess) the loss of brain cells dying due to it. I have noticed that since having the seizures that he is not quite as intelligent as he was. Since he was practically at genius level, this has not become a problem yet. I only notice it because some of my sons homework that had questions he used to know he now doesn't. Going to the ER has done no good. The neurologists could find nothing and started him on medication, but that made him sick so we just try to control the stress and when he can sleep, I let him. After a seizure he will sleep for a long time....hours. Immediately afterwards his hands and sometimes head hurts, and he feels drained, but no other effects. Best to not let him walk for about half an hour though. If you feel they are stress induced, an anti-anxiety drug may help ward those off, but they need to only be taken when under stress and before you go to sleep and not allow them to become habit forming. If they are from sleep deprivation (as my husbands was last night) then really all you can do is to allow them to sleep afterwards which is what they need. That is the best advice I can provide. My husband has had his for about five years now...sometimes goes months without them but when he has one, he usually has a couple more within the next few days.

More than likely, you're not getting a restful sleep. I was having the same problem having morning seizures. I've been taking Clonazepam 1mg. pill before bedtime. This has worked very well for me. I, myself wouldn't take the Clonazepam at any other time of the day. I have been taking it for about 7 yrs.
It's a older seizure drug. Ask your Dr. if you can try it. It's not a expensive drug either. 90 day supply is about $10.00. I'm 49 yrs. young and I half to push my Dr. at times to try a older seizure drug. So be somewhat aggressive when you ask if needed.
